Pulse Rifle = Worst Primary?
I don't hear a lot about pulse rifles, Besides Red Death.
In my experience, it's the most awkward weapon to be consistently good with.
We always hear about autos, hand cannons and scout rifles, but not too much talk about pulse rifles.
Am I sensing a trend? Is it just me?

Been a long time coming. The upcoming weapons patch, along with Bungie's stats clearly show that pulse rifles are the least favourite weapon and also most underpowered.
I've been kicking ass the oversoul edict. It's actually one of the exceptions. With the buff, this gun will rule the crucible and arc burn nightfalls

I have 2 bad seed downs and a super pov vlo. Not feeling bad seed, although they have good perks. One has full auto, the other has headseeker. I wish i had one with both.

My issue is the damage seems lower than scouy rifles overall, and missing with a pulse is more punishing than with a scout.
Scout rifles seem better than pulse rifles in every way.

Pulses rule. High impact, accuracy, stability and range. Combine that with a full auto perk you got a mega rifle. Get a super pox vlo with full auto. I got one. It rules.

I like my Super POX VLO, but I use everything in PvE. In PvP, I need my AR crutch.

I used pulse rifles throughout the whole game and got red death in my first raid , they had always been my favorite and are great for taking out one guy at a time but they do struggle with packs and orricals , you just gotta know how to use them

2 RepliesThe Red Death is good however it's not in par with the best AR or Scout rifles. The fact is the Red a Death is the best pulse in the game but far from the best choice. I have every weapon worth a damn and The Best weapon is VOC period. No gun out performs it ever. The best auto is very dependent on the situation. Atheons for VOG and Suros for PVP. I lead ever raid with kills...

Upgraded my timepiece and am quite enjoying it at the moment. Nothing special but different. My first gun after blues was a red death and I spent ages with that until I started getting legendaries. So I like them in general.

They tend to be relatively low impact with small magazines. The ones I have encountered are anyways. That can be all well and good for PvP, but in PvE they just can't deal out as much damage as other weapon types can.

3 RepliesMissing with a pulse rifle is far more punishing than any other gun, yes. You need to know exactly what you're hitting or you're not getting the best out of every trigger pull. That in mind, if and when you DO hit properly, it's a thing of beauty. I have to be frank in saying the the Red Death is the only pulse rifle I currently use, and it's a personal favorite. Had I not a bunch of other weapons that I currently use I would use it for more than simply Crucible, but as soon as I'm out of PvE it's my weapon of choice.

My first legendary weapon was fair and square, the good thing about it was the large mag. pretty poor when it comes to nighfall, i can imagine it sucks on pvp,

Your right, pulse rifles suck. Just fully leveled praedeths timepiece and that gun is still a fkin turtle. I out damage with almost every other gun there is. Good for arc burn tho

I absolutely love Pulse Rifles for PvE. I agree the Exotic Pulse Rifles need some love, as my Legendary ones have better perks leading to better DPS. Red Death is a great Exotic when it comes to survivability, but in the current endgame content survivability isn't really needed. I take extra DPS over survivability in this easy content they have provided.

I have used quite a few pulse rifles, but after buying mida, and shadow price I don't see why I would use another one. The damage is just to slow and the extra range is usually spoiled by the pulse recoil.

1 ReplyDefinitely worst primary (but also worst gun type of all). Not necessarily all terrible though... I have timepiece but it's pointless now I have fatebringer (arc primary of choice). I got red death this week and haven't used it because of my experience with pulse in general. Just can't imagine it is worth levelling ahead of my other exotics that need maxing first. Thoughts?

1 ReplyPulse rifle is the least used primary by far compared to all other primaries based on the stats on every site. Not many use a pulse rifle, and if they do it's only because that is their only current weapon to use most of the time. In PvE pulse rifles are never used for endgame content especially, you will never catch anyone in raid or weekly heroic/nightfall using a pulse rifle. Only occasion someone may use a pulse rifle in nightfall is with the praedtyh timepiece and arc damage buff all though more would use the fatebringer over that.

1 ReplyThe first legendary drop I ever got was Bad Seed Down. I've been using it ever since, and I absolutely love it. Stop hating on Pulse Rifles and get good, you might find you'll like them. A Pulse Rifle is exactly like the Battle Rifle in Halo, which was the game's bread and butter weapon. I love my Pulse Rifle in PvE, the range and accuracy are great for staying at a safe distance and clearing enemies. I also run it in PvP, I have my Invective for close encounters and whip out the Bad Seed Down to cover longer distances. This combo has been very rewarding for me. Pulse Rifles need more love <3

I really wanted to love my red death, I really did! Maxed it out, but for me it just doesn't cut it. I'm used to the raw power of hand canons. I just got praedyth's timepiece and I hate it so far. In the process of upgrading it. I hope I can like it. I could see it being a beast in an arc burn nightfall though.
