What’s the stupidest way you’ve killed yourself?
I put up a post recently about the fact that even level 30’s can do stupid things. I had so many comments from people saying about the stupid things they’d done, I thought I’d put up a separate post. Here’s just one example of something I’ve done.
I started as a hunter and only had one character for ages. My wife wanted to try Destiny so she started a titan. I was helping her get her level up and went into the crucible to get some bounties. I saw a whole team claiming a zone in control and thought to myself “bingo! I’ve waited a long time to do this. These guys aren’t going to know what hit them”. As I wasn’t experience using a titan, I didn’t realise that if you’re sprinting your special launches you a lot further. I went straight over the top of all of them, smashed down the other side and got shot in the back by all 6 of them :p
edit: I normally try to respond to all of the comments if I put up a post, but there have been so many I'm struggling to keep up. Keep them coming they're priceless. It's nice to see people making fun of themselves, rather than taking the game so seriously

Threw the trip mine grenade for my hunter on a guy right in front of me and blew myself up. This has happened multiple times

Running the Vault of Glass...trying to help out the guy in Venus by softening up the enemies with a rocket...figured I'd jump to get a really good angle on them...fire the rocket and, boom, oracle spawns right in front of me. We wipe...everyone asks what happens..."umm, something killed me"

One time I hopped off my sparrow and a knight shot it and my sparrow rammed and killed me :P

Never really kill myself, but the funniest thing that happened to me was during the loot cave a Warsat flattened all 6 of us. However we all happened to be sun singers and all rezed at the same time. Looked really awesome.

I melee'd one of the explosive boxes on Venus when i didnt know what it was, one of the funniest deaths i have ever received. But imo the best way i have seen myself die was getting melee'd by a phalanx and sliding 50 feet into a wall and then immediately dying and being told i was killed by the architects.

1 ReplyI'll just tell you the way my stupid level 29 friend died. So I went afk while he went to patrol. Apparently he got the idea to push me because by the time I got back with my glass of water he was sitting there with his sparrow. But I had the element of surprise, since I hadn't put my headset back on he didn't know I was back I rush for the controller and braced. Then he smashed the accelerate button and I smashed the jump button. I had perfectly evaded it and my idiot friend flew to his doom. I didn't have my headset on but I could hear him scream "WHAT!? NOOO!" Before he died. Best patrol moment ever. Right next to the time I sparrow blasted him to death while he was opening a chest.

The stupidest way I've dies is standing next to all you guys. Doesnt matter how, as long as you die next to someone as stupid as all of u r, then theres no beating that

Have a new one to add. I'm a noob at the raid, so when the shields came around us after we dropped the Atheon shield I shot a rocket launcher. Instant death. Lesson learned. Haha.

1 ReplyThis was not me but another warlock on a hard raid. We were all still on top getting ready to shoot the oracles before the Templar fight. We asked one of the warlocks that had sunsinger to jump off the edge and self res to trigger the oracles. After explaining to not touch the lower platform so when he revives he will be on top with us. He replies with "Gawd I'm not a noob I know what I'm doing" Before another word is said he jumps off and we wait... "Are you going to self res" we ask. In a quite embarrassed voice we hear "My supper wasn't ready yet..." We didn't let the poor guy live it down.

Shot a ghost in the crucible, point blank with a rocket launcher. Didn't notice it until it was too late.

My sparrow went berserk after it was destroyed and it rammed me off the cliff

2 RepliesI always end up jumping just as times vengeance ends... Fall out of my bubble and die. Sometimes I thing my fusion rifles are full auto and stand in front of the enemy just pointing my gun at him, wondering why he's not dead. Die. Smashed by public event Always throw my trip mine grenade, forget it's there when it doesn't kill anyone and run right in front of it just as it explodes. Die. That happens a ton Gorgon gaze (by the way, does anyone else thing of the movie small soldiers when talking. About gorgons? The good guys were gorgonites, from gorgon) Try playing as warlock, glide off cliff to my death (Hunter primary) Melee attacking enemies on nightfall

I blew myself up with a rocket launcher on the final hit soloing the Nexus nightfall. I've also run off cliffs on my time breaker.

Always the rocket to a friends back, and the one time I was in rumble with a friend and chased him off the map with blade dancer

Shot a Rocket Launcher inside my Defender Shield, then my team got blasted by Phogoth

Was about to die and fell to panic when a dreg came up from behind so I threw my lighting grenade which annihilated the both of us on a solo Nightfall.

Ever blinked in to two hobgoblin lasers while simultaneously firing a rocket at a praetorian who then gets launched back towards a team-mate who attempts to solar wind him off the edge at the exact moment another team-mate jumps in between, getting knocked off the edge of the map in the process? Yeah, haha, me neither.......:'(
