So...who likes farming upgrade materials?
I sure the hell dont. Its tedious and stupid.
"Oh man I can make my gun stronger...I need to go to the cosmodrome for 2 hours and pick some cabbage off the ground and glue it to my gun so it does more damage."
And who the HELL has so much of this crap they sell it for marks?
"Well I just finished farming for 8 hours...im gonna turn it in for 5 vanguard marks because I didnt have time to run the 10 minute strike to get the marks. Gonna go lick a window now."

1 ReplyI do actually, it’s relaxing for me in its monotony (just like chopping wood all day) and I get in a sort of zen-like state while doing the Rocketyard chestrun. (I hate it when other players come and mess with the spawns though, breaks my trance!) I never play Crucible so it’s my only way for getting crucible marks. I mostly trade in Spinmetal (for me it’s the easiest to gather) and I gather the other resources when necessary or when doing bounties/patrol and save them for when I need to upgrade something. I try to keep a stack of 200 of each in the vault and any surplus get’s traded for marks. I hate gathering relic iron though, I find it the most difficult to find and I dislike Mars in general. From easiest to worst for me it’s: spinmetal – spirit bloom – helium filaments – relic iron.

Find an empty zone and do the infinite chest glitch. You can get like 50 in 20 minutes if your good

I just put on a podcast and zone out for awhile. It's a nice reprieve from my projects at work. Without a good chest run i imagine it would be much more annoying.

I LOVE farming materials. I log on for multiple hours daily just to farm materials. I don't understand how people keep asking for more content! Farming materials is hours and hours, days and days, of content all in itself! Yet people will pay real life money for "[i]Farmville[/i]" games on their phones, tablets, etc. It's all included in Destiny! Best mini game ever.

Every piece of my armour needs helium so I'm going to need a few hundred helium to Max it all. I've found a decent route to get 20 or so per run reasonably quick, but still I can only manage 2 runs before it gets too monotonous. I'm sure I read on one of the weekly updates that bungie were working on possible new ways of getting materials, so if that happens it should help break the monotony of farming a little.

I hate it. If I'm with some friends and we are just chatting it's ok, but usually I'm alone or said friend is on another planet because we need different mats. I don't mind it so much that I think it should be removed, just the amount needed to upgrade should be reduced.

1 ReplyMy helmet, gloves and boots all take helium, a weapon I just found yesterday. (Solar wizard with armour piercing rounds) also takes helium And I need to get more helium for my hunter gear. I haven't gotten any of those lucky 15+ helium chests anyways.

I don't mind, as long as I'm getting patrol missions done in the process, and I tend to patrol with a partner. I also try to point materials out when matched in a public space with other players. It makes for a great social experience and eases the grind.

4 RepliesSince I don't Strike or Raid, gathering mats on Patrol is a significant part of the fun! What I have a problem with is getting enough ascendant mats. It's getting to the point where, instead of just merrily checking for chests/mats as I run around having fun on Patrols & fulfilling bounties, I'm going to have to seriously start farming Public Events. :(

3 RepliesAt first I hated it, but now I enjoy it. I especially like farming helium as I know where all the spots and chests are. It may just be me but it seems like materials and chests are spawning more often. If you know a good farming route, and have some kind of bounty you can complete while doing it, then I find it to be quite fun

Relic iron is the worst for me. Then spin metal. Spent 4 hours in the past three days to level up various new gear. Only to get ALMOST done... I feel like it should drop off enemies at least a little bit, or have a the wax, supply codes, etc, enable them to drop as you kill and farm.

I don't mind it because compared to many other games the grind isn't so bad. The problem I do have is that I'm older now, with more responsibilities. Having time to get through the weekly chores is hard enough, let alone grind out mats. I spent literal months of game time grinding skills on Runescape back in high school though.

Sometimes they are just retarded and use their sparow to reach half the spots and ruins the run for both of you. They get half of their half runs and you get half of that too... I gets anoying when they realise nothing spawn and they just stay on it and do it faster... And then nothing spawns nowhere because someone is always near a zone...

It's alright if you're doing it with friends. You guys would always have something to talk about during the time and before you know it, you've already collected plenty of materials

I'm right with you...I spent several hours just farming the moon and Earth the last 2 days to max out primary weapons for my secondary character..it's a grind...and I haven't even scratched the surface of newly aquire weapons from recent raids, nightfalls and what's filled up in my vault. A real pain in the a$$.

4 RepliesI may be the only one that does this.... But, I farm relic Iron for crucible marks. I hate crucible so I just farm mats for the marks when i need them. I guess that makes me a window licker? Relic Iron seems to be the fastest for me to farm so... that's my crucible fix. :D

I just throw on a podcast and zone out for a bit whilst I fill my pockets with random assortments of materials. I enjoy it a lot actually.
