In the event of Hurricane Katrina, the National Guard was given orders to shoot any looters on sight.* Why was this not done in Ferguson?

*NOTE: I was unable to find further evidence that this order was carried out. In the process of searching, I discovered that the Guard allegedly participated in looting along with local police.

Why wouldn't you loot? Shits gonna be all flood damaged anyway.
-
I'm not saying I would or wouldn't loot. I'm just wondering why such an action would be condoned in that event and not in this one. You make a good point.
-
They didn't do it probably because the whole situation was started by a shooting. Also a lot of people still think the kid was killed unjustly.

I cannot pass judgement on the whole situation because I was not there, nor do I possess sufficient knowledge on law. My brother who has been through law enforcement school says the officer was in the right, but there are others who would disagree. It annoys me that some of these people who feel the killing was unjust think they have law degrees. Either way, what's done is done. We could sit and speculate all day on whether or not the officer was just in his actions, or we could work to prevent more deaths by educating the public about these situations and reeducating the police on how to handle them.

I'm just saying another shooting would not go over well in Ferguson.

I don't think it would go over well in any part of the country at this point. People will pull the race card at anything these days (although it was probable in Trayvon Martin's case).
