I agree that the cop had the right to defend himself but why couldn't he just take him or shoot him in the leg?

Do you really think that if your life was, as you perceived, in danger and your adrenaline was pumping that you would think to shoot in the leg?

Good point.

Cops are trained to shoot for the biggest target which on the human body is the torso

Edited by друг: 11/25/2014 11:53:12 PMThat's the problem. They're being trained to kill. I don't believe he is guilty and had every right to defend himself and I understand his problem. But couldn't he have tased him instead?

Traded?

Sorry, autocorrect, I'm doing this on mobile. I meant to say "tased".

I saw somewhere that the cop didn't have his taser, only mace. And Brown was much bigger than him. The cop made a statement somewhere along the lines of "I fear he could have beat me to death." Brown reached for the gun. Gun went off. Cop secures gun. Heat of the moment puts some rounds into someone he thought wanted to end his life. If you've never been in a situation like that, it's impossible to comprehend.

To respond to your previous post, it just makes more sense to aim for the area that's easiest to hit. If all of our vital organs were in our arms & legs, cops would still shoot at the torso. As far as tasing him goes, he may have been out of range or if he was truly in fear for his life then he would definitely use his pistol instead.
