I think my vision of confluence is broken..
When I hold the trigger occasionally the full auto mode will just stop firing and I will have to let go and re pull the trigger. It happens pretty frequently

I'm not a Bungie Employee, but in the past people have reported this issue in the #Help forum and I've seen some of the BngHelps reply and mention that it's a problem that is known by the team. Anecdotally it can happen to many of the full auto weapons, not just the Vision of Confluence. Thank you for reporting it though, I really do hope the Bungie Team can get around to fixing it soon.
