Material Exchange is Stupid!
Why would I spend 45 minutes getting 50 Materials to exchange them for what I can get in a Tiger Strike (plus more glimmer) in 10 minutes?
I guess if you REALLY don't like crucible, it's alternative to getting crucible marks. But even then, those at the least can be 10 minute rounds.
If they flipped the exchange around, it would be so much better: trade rep, marks & glimmer for materials. Heck even if taking rep was to complicated, they could just up the amount of marks and glimmer they are worth.

I use this because I do not enjoy the PVP element of this game at all. I ABHOR the %#@&ing Crucible. I really do not like the fact that Bungie thought it was a great idea not only to incorporate PVP into 2 exotic bounties, but to also penalize peoples' progress when they get killed by other players. Way to really rub the noses of those who do not enjoy PVP in it. Now they remove the ability to exchange materials for marks, so the ONLY way to obtain Crucible marks is through the Crucible, and my loathing of that mode of gameplay is quickly spreading to include the developers themselves who seem hellbent on coercing me into having to endure it to gain anything outside of Vanguard gear. Note to Bungie: If I'm not having fun playing your game, I'm not going to be buying any more of your games in the future. And you know what they say about dissatisfied customers and word-of-mouth...

Used it when I didn't want to/or have the energy for crucible. Mixed it with patrols/public events/certain vanguard bounties, or leveling equipment. Easy way to hit your marks if you're short on time for weekly reset too. Glad I turned my 600 Spinmetal in last night....

I am a little upset that this is not an option anymore. I would use this quite often, for example when I knock out the Vanguard bounty like patrol whatever planet 6 times I would pick up a lot of materials and run into a lot of chest witch most of the time just gives you material anyway. I would just cash them in for marks but so much for that. I have 600 Relic Iron right now and all I can do is delete them. Because after you reach 200 of an item it will create another slot in your inventory. Would be nice to just have both options but whatever.

I used it when I was below 20 to get Crucible Marks because I felt like I would do poorly and bring the team down... :<

45 mins are you walking I can get 100 in about 30 mins pretty damn easy

It is useful for collecting spare marks quickly near reset time. I don't play Crucible very often so it helps there. You get 2.5k xp towards weapons, armour and motes of light for each trade. Only advisable to use if you have spare materials lying around (anything over 200).

For those folks who want a vender specific item that is only purchasable with crucible marks. This is the way. I hate pvp. Therefore.... It takes me about 45 min to get 100. I do public events and the little side missions for rep and shards/energy. It didn't take all that long.

If I already have the materials and I'm that close to leveling my rank I'll use it so I don't have to leave the tower again.

I've used it to maximize my crucible marks when I don't have time to run the matches before reset. Trading marks for material, sure. Trading reputation for material... ARE YOU FAWKING STUPID? Like seriously... DID SOMEONE REPEATEDLY DROP YOU ON YOUR HEAD AS A KID? [spoiler]Second to licking the anus of someone with Ebola, trading reputation for materials has got to be the worst idea in the history of mankind. I used it once, realized that it [i]really[/i] is not worth it, and will never use it again.
