EDIT: I've made a new post that better gets at what I'm trying to say:
http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post?id=80314833
First, let me say that I am not flat out saying Bungie should buff the GG, because I'm not so arrogant as to believe that my opinion is the only one that matters. This is also not a complaint post. I am simply asking for other opinions on the matter (as well as offering my own).
I'll put this here, since I think a lot of people weren't seeing it at the bottom of the wall of text: after discussing this with a lot of you, I think that what it mainly comes down to is that it needs a damage buff. Since it's already a one-hit in pvp, this would really only affect pve gameplay, where it is horribly outclassed by other supers. Also, simply adding a regular precision multiplier would help to increase damage, as well as reward those who use it more carefully.
I think the Golden Gun, being an all-out offensive super, is a bit lacking overall. Here we have a super with absolutely no defense buffs, that can only get (excluding explosions, which are extremely unreliable) 3 kills. Comparing that to any other super, that's child's play. A ground-pound or nova bomb at any capture point can wipe a team, and sunsingers/defenders (using defensive supers) can usually get at least 3. And of course, everyone knows the frustration of having a bladedancer hop across the map and kill your team. (Not hating, dancers. Huntas 4 lyfe!)
To compare it to another offensive super, a Titan groundpounding with the defense buff can tank a GG shot. That's ludicrous. Striker titans are the offensive subclass, with an offensive super, but can survive a shot from a class that is supposedly all offense? Furthermore, titans don't even consume their super until they hit the ground! That means if I see a Titan start a pound, I plug two GG into him to kill him, and he spawns, he can come back and super me anyway. That's what I call unbalanced.
It's even worse in PvE. There's no reason why all 3 shots shouldn't kill a yellow bar captain; my gun in infused with the gott dayum sun, it should be better!
Proposed solution: either give the GG a defense buff (like the one that literally ever single other super in the game has) or buff its damage. This super is supposed to sacrifice defense for offense, but it's just not enough. This is supposed to be the glass cannon super, but it's more just like a glass slingshot.
Tldr: Golden Gun isn't damaging enough for the complete lack of defense.
Any thoughts?

I'd just let it hit for crit and give it a high crit multiplier
-
No super is good against boss lmao they're for clearing mobs...golden can kill minotaurs, any other specials won't...what else do you want? In PVP, you use it and shoot people from far away and kill them in 1 hit...what else do you want?
-
O and I've generated 19 orbs in one golden gun. Once again learn how to play your class
-
This post is a joke... Hunter has best wave clearing abilities and Oracle dps not looking at this thread again learn to play the class it's not for boss dps

Edited by Lord Fried: 11/25/2014 6:38:32 PMfine in PvP...definitely needs a buff in PvE... on second thought, nerf that thing please!!
-
Edited by Joshua2112: 11/25/2014 1:04:46 AMIt needs a buff in PvE. One hit to knock out any shield and one hit to drop any non ultra. It should out perform any exotic in PvE. Not right that even my nerfed pocket infinity out damages GG in the same three shot burst. As a blade dancer arc blade cuts through packs of normals and even razors edge can be fired off more times than GG doing as much if not more damage.
-
Both Gunslinger and Bladedancer are useless on high level enemies. They both need a Buff.
-
wanna buff my cock?
-
It needs 100 bullets
-
No -blam!-ing way
-
Needs six bullets
-
Crit spot multiplier. Doesn't effect pvp. Helps pve.
-
I feel like this turned from a discussion about whether or not GG needed to be buffed in PvE to a argument about whether or not it's too OP in PvP.
-
Pvp is fine, pve does need a dmg buff
-
"Maybe" crit damage in PvE, otherwise I think it's fine.
-
If you really want it balanced, here's what needs done: The golden gun only gets one shot. The one shot activates instantly. The shot causes an area of effect slightly smaller than the nova bomb due to having the furthest range and a near instant effect.
-
It still has a set damage in PvP, yea it kills most in one shot but buff the damage and it's gonna be breaking bubbles in one shot, killing anyone in a super one shot and it's explosions and piercing damage will all be increased. Then you're already stupid strong PvP super would get even stronger. Yea it can't wipe a whole team but it's an almost guaranteed 3/4 kills (with Symbiote). Titans / Warlocks do NOT average that per super.
-
For PvE hell yes. It's so weak I rarely use it. For PvP it's fine. The time is pretty short but it doesn't bother me too much. I work with it even though I still hardly use it in PvP except for when I see a blade dancer or need to clear a point.

The gg is fine in pvp. It can eaisly burst and kill the titan in his bubbel from across the map making the titans bubble useless as defense. at close range it nearly never misses because of increased accurarcy while using it. It can penetrate and do damage to multiple targets at once. It is not meant to be a defensive super it is meant to be used in a build that is all about speed and agility, not armor or recovery. you are not meant to be standing around while usiing it at all. Rush in fire kill rush away. the gg is not meant to outclass every super it is meant to be used smart by the hunter not as a panic attack.
-
It should 1-hit kill any non-shielded major at your level (except maybe Praetorians). It does annoy me how badly it scales.

Edited by Nicarus86: 11/24/2014 4:25:23 PMI've never been a fan of the ol' Point-n-Click. Then again, it's probably because it does seem like a pea-shooter in and out of PvP. If the thing actually LOOKED like it one-shots you in PvP, then okay. I'm saying make that thing ROAR or something. I hate watching the thing go "tink" and killing me. Just makes me think "How's that possible?!" If it were a giant fireball capable of engulfing you in the rage of a thousand burning suns, then I'd understand. In terms of PvE, I agree. GG is ridiculously weak against anything greater than a gnat.
-
I agree, and before anyone says PvP anything...in pvp it still 1 shots people so it doesn't make a difference...But yeah I agree they should have a damage buff or defense buff or more shots with a longer lasting time....it is supposed to be the offensive class but doesn't have much to show for.
-
Agree it needs a pve buff
-
I definitely agree that Golden Gun should get a damage buff and be able to do critical damage (since it wouldn't affect PvP), but giving Hunters damage resistance while using Golden Gun is a -blam!-ing horrible idea.
-
No, nope, no. The hunter is ok as it is, and even then it's OP as crap.

Signed.
