Yep you read the title right, stop. All you people on here asking for matchmaking for the raid don't realise where you are right? This site has thousands of players on here looking for people to join or help do the raid every minute! I can post
"Xbox one - xTGE - level 29 warlock - sunslinger/voidwalker maxed" and get an invite or find people in a matter of minutes! You people sit here and complain how you don't have time to organize a fireteam to take through the raid, well if you don't have time to come on here (but you can to complain) and quickly leave your Psn/GT and get an invite to a raid party in a matter of minutes then you don't have time for the raid.
Matchmaking will wreck the raid because they aren't actual teams that work together. Here's some examples of what can/will go wrong in a match made raid session.
1. No mic - if you're new to the raid and have no idea what you're doing and don't have a mic it's only going to cause frustration and rage quitting (get to that in a second).
2 - low levels - the raid is designed for anyone that is level 23 and higher to get into and at that level they will get destroyed, so what if you joined a team of people below 26 and just couldn't get past the first area? I know it was like that for me and a lot if other people at that level when the raid first came out.
3 - rage quitting - this is the biggest thing here. With match made games, if things become to tough or hard like strikes and crucible matches then it will cause rage quitting and then what? You're left with 5 people? Then another leaves then another then another Untill it's just you but wait people join yor raid since it's matchmaking, well great but now they've missed out on all that loot they could've gotten before hand and if they made a fireteam before hand.
4 - no teamwork - let's face it, the raid requires teamwork. 2 people on each plate, the defending of the Conflux then oricles, the Templar, atheon, all require teamwork. But what if you have people that don't work well together? Speak a different language and can't understand you? Then you have issues with your team which can result in all the above.
Yes matchmaking is needed for nightfall and weeklys, but not for the raid. It will just cause more frustration and more people having issues with bungie due to not being able to complete it then people will say they aren't having fun or can't do it and hate the game because the feature they wanted doesn't work.
The solution is simple, have a room down near the speaker (door xur stands infront of sometimes) and open it up. Have a spot where people can type a message or put down they're looking for a fireteam or people in the tower can meet up and acknowledge they want to raid. Better yet, while you're here, post that you want to join a raid or find someone asking for people it's honestly not that hard. I raid 2 times a week, normal and hard which makes 4 and do nightfall and weeklys twice and everyweek I do them with new people I find on here.
Don't add it bungie, let the lazy continue to be lazy and suffer because they can't be bothered to actually look because match making will cause more anger at you and the the game itself.
Yours truely, a raider on Xbox one.

There can be match making. Just don't use it if you want. It's not like the fact that match making is there that it's not going to let you build your fireteam
-
So stop asking for something i want because your opinion obviosly holds more value than mine. Hmmm, makes sense.

Probably the biggest issue with raid matchmaking is the fact that there is no in game mechanism at all for facilitating group searches. Why build a game that has heavy multiplayer sections and not put anything in the game to facilitate it? The reality is you should not have to go to a third party site to find a group for a multiplayer function in a game. Or even the game website for that matter. That's just poor design . All your points are valid, but they can all be used against picking up randoms in the forums as well. I don't particularly want random matchmaking for the raid or NF's/Weeklies. But I think having hub based LFG tags or message boards to get the word out is a viable and efficient option. This can be done by drop down menus and highlights. A full keyboard is not necessary.
-
So what about opt-in matchmaking? If you dont have anyone, hit a button for MM and move on. If you have a team ready, great move on. So we do agree, MM for weekly and nightfall.
-
I say "optional" matchmaking that way you kids can not use it and do it the super hard way with no benefit.
-
I disagree. Optional would be nice. Not mandatory just optional. I dont think that would break the raid at all.
-
The game does NOT need a strike play list match making for the raid. What the game DOES need is a Destinylfg.net styled LFG system for ALL aspects of the game.
-
Haha every reason you put up for no matchmaking is literally the same thing you face as you would in the forums literally exactly the same
-
Edited by FacePirate: 11/24/2014 5:25:12 PMWhy use third party sites when matchmaking can be and should of always been in the game.
-
How about I just counter that initial statement. I am a level 29 hunter and I post about needing a team and get one reply 13 hours after I posted
-
Can add the point of having different checkpoints to your list. If I beat half the raid one day and want to start at a certain checkpoint then I come on here and ask for that. Why would I want to start over for no reason. Implementing that into matchmaking would be incredibly hard..
-
Amazing how much people defend this. If you don't use it, it doesn't effect you. Pretty stupid to demand this when you can simply avoid it if it were there. The arrogance of it is amazing.
-
Okay then. Remove matchmaking from Crucible so everyone has to come here and find a group for it.
-
www.destinylfg.com A place to type that you want to raid. Why do we need mm for weekly or nightfall? Doesn't everyone just solo those? Super easy.
-
Good points but each of them can be countered. I don't see much of a difference between ppl that I have found on LFG and regular match making on stuff like strikes and crucibles. Just because you can find ppl on the recruitment sites doesn't mean they are any good. I have raided with players who were afraid to pick up the relic or didn't know what the oracles are for. I have raided with randoms who have rage quitted. And I have raided with ppl who did not use their mics. As far as low level players, I don't think you will find anyone lower than lvl 26 because the raid is actually locked for new characters until they reach lvl 26. I made a post today entitled "Alternative To Raid/Nightfall Match Making". If you have time, check it out. I am interested to hear your thoughts on it.
-
Your wrong. Its part of the next updates.
-
My only complaint about the Raid and teaming up is that i have to go outside of the game to find people to play it with. This could be completely avoided by adding some sort of emote at the end of a players name in the tower that indicates whether the player is looking for a raid, strike, or nightfall group. Then I and other raid party leaders wouldn't have to send random invites to a hundred other people just to find someone who is interested in doing it. I would just have to walk around look at the player names and go, "Hey i see your looking for a raid. You raid here often?"
-
Ewww, these raid bois are gross. Nobody wants to play with op on a raid. Probably thinks he's general Patton when he's raiding. I've never used a mic and completed raid my first go. Matchmaking is possible. I find better players on vanguard strikes than I do these lfg shitheads. Lfg people are the worst!
-
How would it break the RAID? Match making doesn't have to be forced on you. You can still create a fireteam yourself so your whole post is void.
-
yes why would a developer ever think to add the most basic of only functions.... its not like they forgot voice chat eit.......uhhhhh
-
I like the idea of a place to coordinate raids in game. Good Idea
