Kabr had a ghost? I thought the that the traveler made the ghosts with its last breath. That would mean Kabr entered the vault around the time the game started, when ghosts found their guardians. Am I wrong?

  • And the motes of light we collect are hypothesized to become the new ghosts

  • Guardians have been around since the traveler died thousands of years ago. You ghost had just been looking that long

lol, You think you're the first guardian your ghost bought back..... lets just say you probably shouldnt call him little light anymore. he didnt revive the last guy who got on his bad side.

  • That would make more sense. I was thinking it was a recent thing. Thanks

  • I never thought about that. It would mean at the very least hes a hero from after the golden age collapse and presumably after the battles of the twilight gap and the like. They don't really put a time stamp on it.

  • Ya, the story makes it sound ancient. But it can't be that long ago can it?

  • Definitely not. If Kabr had a ghost it means he was reborn in the traveler's light, which in turn means that he is a guardian like us and from an (at the very least) relatively close period of time. Which makes you wonder how long had the vault been there before Kabr found it? Is the vault a newly developed plan the vex set in motion or has it always been there?

  • No your ghost said he had been looking for you for centuries And the dark and city ages have passed

  • Can't say. So kabr's fall is more of a current event headline rather than a legend

  • Your ghost said he had been searching for you for centuries and the dark age plus the city age have happened post collapse but before your ghost found you.

Both due to the Vex's time travel abilities once they build something in the future it exists in the past and vice versa. As for the time line humanity had a thousand years or so of golden age peace and expansion the destruction of which was rather quick and took less then 100 years to wipe out mars Venus mercury etc could have even been quicker and only taken mere months. As for the timeline we are resurrected around 700 years after the collapse so Kabr's time could have been 100-200 years after leaving a 500-600 year gap while not ancient it's enough time for stories and legends to be built.

  • Indeed good sir, a fair estimate. My main question about the vault is when was it created? Since the vex are so capable of "time" manipulation it could have been whenever. Perhaps when we have to go through the (old) Venus portal that would be when they sent themselves back and first started building it. The Vex are my favorite enemy force in destiny. Their mysteriousness and the amount of threat they pose not only to us but the universe in general is frightening and extremely exciting to think about fighting against.

  • I agree they are the most original and...powerful enemy we face in destiny. As for the VoG seeing as there's no confirmed time line it's construction date is entirely at a individuals discretion but I to would use your point and say its construction began back on Venus well before the golden age the Vex are a billion years or two older then humanity so depending on when they came to the conclusion of writing themselves into the fabric of the universe the VoG could have existed for longer then we dare imagine.

  • Man I'm twisting my brain trying to fit things together. If they occupied the universe so much longer than us, why have such a great construction like the vault be unguarded until the recent encounters with vex? If we were on Venus during the golden age, why take so long to reclaim something with such importance to them? (most interesting thread I've seen on the forums in a while btw)

  • As far as I know when the traveller came it put them into standby mode hence why we only discovered them after the darkness came now the travellers been wounded it can only stop then from teleporting to earth. Thing I find interesting is if they are from the future but come to the past then they literally can't lose a battle it's almost like the film Edge of tomorrow except even if we win we don't really win as they just keep coming back and fighting.

  • Its definitely mind boggling. For all we know the vault could have started being built millions of years ago and only recently was it finished in our timeline or maybe noone was able to go to venus until more recently so noone knew it was there. It's all very confusing and trippy.

  • Never mind. I just read atheons grimoire card. It's unsure if atheon created the vault or the vault created atheon.

  • Agreed. And why a vault? Not the "door of glass" or something else. Did that mean atheon was stuck in there? Was it actually more of a prison like phogoth? Just an out of control beast that needed to be kept in a pit. Maybe "glass" (if it even is actual glass)(crystals?). Make a barrier to restrain his power to manipulate time and space?... Jeez, I need a beer

  • This actually makes a lot of since, considering "Atheon" means "one who is godless". The Vex are very religious to the point of behaving like a cult. If Atheon didn't respect the "god" or power (presumably the darkness or some figure representative of the darkness), then the Vault could be a prison for him.

  • You have Dark souls to thank for this Destiny was heavily influenced to the point where multiple items even reference it. I love ambiguous lore that allows you to draw some story in yourself and leave you wondering
