Crafting. This will mean making big changes to the way the weapon loot system works.
Additional Drops:
- weapon frame
- stabiliser
- barrel
- stock
- trigger mechanism
- sight
- skin
- golden age module
Each available in green, blue, purple and yellow diagrams.
Each diagram must be identified by the gunsmith and the perks and values on each piece should be determined by RNG.
Identifying diagrams should upgrade the gunsmith and higher levels should give higher level/better perks.
On a more technical level...
The main weapon frame should have an overall 'points' value. Each additional component added to the weapon uses up some of these points. The scarcer the component, the more points used by it. This will prevent completely overpowered builds.
Breaking up weapons aquired from engrams and drops should have a chance to yield a component from that weapon.
This chance should be higher for legendaries and exotics. I'm thinking 50% for legendaries and 75% for exotics.
Golden age modules should be very rare drops which add a guaranteed perk. They should also be obtainable from breaking down exotics and legendaries.

Edited by Gaheris: 11/11/2014 3:29:44 AMThis would be for Destiny 2 and yeah, just give us a crafting system and reputation points for the gunsmith Bungie. Oh and also a trading system. Oh, and also lvl 30 Factions gear.

Yeah they're not going to add crafting, it's not something you can just add at an update. I'm not against crafting, but crafting and the RNG in this game would be a disaster.
-
Edited by Just Dave Man: 11/11/2014 3:00:01 AMNo it wouldnt be a disaster and you have stated no reason for that to be the case. It would actually make it interesting and make the rewards worthwhile. Right now its "You want a legendary gun? Ok here is ANOTHER ugly orange gun and we are going to put a dumb set of perks on it like bonus agility while crouched or something stupendously pointless." And all the legendary engrams I ever get quite often turn into Ascendant energy instead of weapons anyway. One thing they need to address is that exotics are currently far easier to get than legendaries and legendary engrams all too often give you energy or useless perks. I dont think they should ever give you energy. Ascendants should be separate special drops to weapon and armour engrams. If I dont like the weapon then I can dismantle it. If I could craft the weapon for glimmer and ascendants and also change the colour of it then awesome. It would still be the same weapon and the dumb perks could still be there but at least I could pay and invest in adapting the weapons a bit to suit my needs.

Right but with crafting if you are using RNG still you're going to get a bunch of stupid shit instead of things you need. Like I said, i'm fine with crafting but the RNG would have to go. And like I said, this is stuff that can't be done in an update so it's not going to happen.

Edited by Just Dave Man: 11/11/2014 12:10:02 PMThere's a lot of stuff which can be done in updates. Crafting is totally possible to be patched in through a download update. It may be that they don't want to spend money on doing it but I can imagine it in future iterations of Destiny so we shouldn't just rubbish the idea. Yes you will still get a bunch of stupid stuff but crafting would help to alleviate some of the stupidity Bungie throw your way at times. If the idea is put out there then it at least plants a seed for the developers to actually understand what the players are looking for. Crafting of some sort seems a very common idea that people put forward. You have to admit that it would make the game much better and it would also help with life skills like resource management. Those aspects of games are actually really beneficial to the brains development so it would be great to see Destiny have something like that.
