How do we make the Gunsmith relevant again?
I feel sorry for the Gunsmith. Standing behind that counter all day. Nothing to do. No one to talk to. (Except maybe a lvl 8 character) maybe the occasional Exotic Bounty lead.
A couple of my ideas:
[b] Allow him to upgrade weapon levels[/b]. The Stranger's rifle is cool, but at lvl 16 it lacks punch. What if I could upgrade it to 17, 18, 20? 300 attack on the Khovostov? Think about it!
[b] Allow him to change the elemental effect[/b] Let me take a rocket launcher that I like. Maybe its one that upgrades to the triple clip but it's only a lvl 18 with Arc damage. I could use my glimmer to get it to 20 and then change it to Void.
The fact is I don't even care if it's expensive. Give me (and the Gunsmith) something to do with my marks and glimmer. I'd pay 5000 to level it up. I'd pay the same to change the elemental. And I don't know if glimmer is the best fit for upgrade currency, the developers know best on that one, but let's put this guy to work again.
I hope he's on salary, cause if he's getting paid by the hour, bungie, you need to let him go.

I like the idea of making the gun Smith being able to level up your weapons... but how would that work if the reason is to want a better one which leads to grinding for legendarys. I like the element swapping idea also but that also leads to grinding legendarys... but these are good I deals for gunsmiths .... also reforgeing like the iron banner way but for normal legendarys? Would also be awesome if you could reforge the shape.... also the camos... I've seen some blues that look way better then some legendarys which is pretty bs. Would be could if he can personalize your weapon into something you like

Gunsmith should packup his table and an eggroll trailer should show up in his place. Hell, I'd give 3 motes for some carnie chow. Gunsmith is pretty useless right now

1 ReplyMake it so that at random intervals when his inventory updates he has a 10% chance to sell an exotic bounty for 15,000 glimmer. People will start checking him more often if this were the case.

Create an un-skippable cutscene that is five minutes long that plays every time you go to the tower. The cutscene is Xûr slowly walking and then killing the gunsmith, then have Xûr sell all exotic weapons all the time for 500 glimmer a piece

We should be able to buy and customize our own sights, if we get our favorite weapon by RNG a it comes with random perks and optics what if u hate the optics u get? U should be able to change them lol

Like it has probably been said a hundred time : => Crafting : tweaking upgrades, barrel, ADS, etc... => Adding legendary weapons in the turnover that features original upgrades\damage type combination. => Have him sell "guns pieces" (not very usefull but hey) => Have him sell insta-upgrade for weapons (big lumen price, allows you to upgrade a weapon without material\XP except for ascendant mats).

Allow us to reroll upgrades on our weapons. What was Bungie thinking putting crap like "kill with last bullet increases reload speed" on a freaking Auto Rifle?

3 RepliesRe-roll perks, either random or you select which perks. Weapon shaders. A range of scopes for your weapon, I can't stand some of them but love the weapon! These would make me very happy.

1 ReplyDidn't read all the suggestions so not sure if it was said or not...apologies... Just have them turn in like 10'green pieces if the same weapon type and get a random piece of gear of the next tier... This would make all the greens and blues relevant to anyone beyond 22-23 I've gotten the same 10 raid gauntlets in a row? Turn 'em into the gunsmith for a random exotic. Would make getting 6 pieces of the same raid gear worth while. I could even imagine people like "..damn I just needed one more chest piece."

I like the changing-element idea. I have two pairs of different legendary LMGs, and they all do solar. HECK, all my heavies do solar damage. I need void/arc.

Then'll he'll be as useful as a regular vender until you get your legendaries and he'll fade again back to the synth bussiness lol. It's the fate of most non aligned vendors in games -_-. Hero: "Bro....do you even inspect?" *pays for potions, walks away* Vendor: *cries a little on the inside* But that is a dope idea 0_0

My topic suggesting it got lost/ignored, but I'll add it here cuz it would be relevant to the gunsmith as he'd be the one to do it all through. If the gunsmith could be im charge of customizing exotics with specialized perks and mods from old legendaries we dismantle that'd be awesome. Like imagine taking an old sniper rifle apart and getting its last bullet in clip does bonus damage perk and putting it on your ice breaker, or an old auto rifles' radar while aiming downsight and putting it on your hawkmoon or mida multitool? It would give all the exotics a much needed edge and more importantly, finally some individuality between players. Armors could have it too, obviously from the vanguard armorer though. It would need some balancing, since giving a gjallarhorn field scout might be a bit overkill, but I'm sure this would satisfy many angry players here. My two cents, etc.
