Level 30 Faction Gear Idea

Let each faction have its own set of gear to get people to 30. But make it extremely difficult to get there by those means. Something like Rank 5+ with 200 marks per piece. Also have it have a chance to drop from the packages you get from ranking up faction 5 on up. This game needs more avenues for players to get to 30. Making it so there's only one way to get it is an unnecessary bottleneck and makes EVERYONE look the same. This way it'll create more ways for people to get max level and actually make it possible for people to have different armor.

  • I'd prefer that your light level be determined by the highest light level gear in your inventory, not what you are wearing. Otherwise this ranking system seems to completely nullify the options of unique and faction armour instead having everyone toating the same boring raid and legendary gear... I wanna stand out from the crowd but still be able to play high difficulty game modes in my unique armour.

  • I don't wish to spend most of my time in the crucible to earn the marks needed for this. 200 marks would be 8 weeks for the full set, because of the 100 mark weekly limit imposed upon us. That's a lot of PVP grinding.

    • I was thinking that it would be cool if once you have acquired a raid gear piece in the vault that you could buy a faction version of the gear (In other words with the desired stat boosts) from a faction that you are a high level in. I thought factions were really cool at first but they became really irrelevant really fast.

    • I'd say rank 10 for 200 marks.. Rank 5 is easy to get

    • Agreed. But Level 5 really? I'm VG 10, DO 3, FWC 3, NM 3 and CR 1 in less than 200 hours. That's 20 factions levels already. It should be at least at Lvl 10 and here's an idea : The factions would give you a quest for each pieces of armor to accomplish, just like the exotic quests. It would actually be a lot more fun and harder than just hit 10 and buy the gear. And the freaking factions NPCs would give quests like in any other games but for some reasons they don't in this one. Oh wait, they give patrol missions....

      • Bump! Also more gun's available at higher ranks. Also when you reach - let's say rank 10/15/20 - you can buy primary elemental guns from them.

      • This is exactly what we need. Having one (1 1/2 with IB) set of gear to choose from at endgame is bullshit. The focus should be on getting different sets of gear, that provide benefits to specific game play styles.

      • I would add and exotic bounty type requirement. Like 150 marks, lvl 7 required rank and complete legendary bounty. It should be annoying and hard, yet very rewarding.

      • Just a quick thought... Some of the coolest guns and armors lose purpose as you level up in the game, that vault full of goodies you were saving slowly becomes meaningless on your way to lvl 30. Not only does it suck being the 1 guy without full raid armor, but it also sucks when you finally get the raid armor, and every other 30 in your class has it and you all look the same. But if Destiny were to add 'light tiers' to lower lvl legendary armors/guns or rare-blue items, it would give you a totally different grind withing the grind to make the game more enjoyable. The point of raid gear is to make you more prepared for the trials of that given raid. To preserve this premise, raid gear upgrades/perks should be strong buffs against raid enemies and strategy to beat that given raid. but outside of the raid it should be the equivalent of Legendary armor. The other armors such as Iron Banner - Queens Armor - Faction armor should have a light tier lvl option, which basically means once you max out that armor, you have the option to do a bounty (equal to an exotic weapon bounty) to unlock the next light lvl that could take you to 30, you can even add additional shards to the requirement. The specific perks of that armor wont necessarily prove as useful as raid armor in the raid, but outside of it, it still allows you to be competitive and beat the different game modes. it adds variety to a stale list of lvl 30 armor, and for some of us who like a "cool looking" guardian we have the option of lower lvl armors to upgrade further. There are some great looking Rare and Legendary armors, the same can be said for some of the guns. if we could get light tiers that unlock after completing an Exotic Bounty type of requirement to further our favorite looking armors, that would be great...

      • Raid is the PvE challenge to reach 30, the new Iron Banner will be the PvP challenge to reach 30, though it may take longer.

Heres an idea lets just hand out level 30 gear to anyone who wants it. Yes the whole RNG raid is stupid but you should have to work to earn the best gear. Not do mindless patrols and bounties until you hit a certain rank. People on console don't understand the concept of this type of game all they want is to play for a week and have top notch gear. News flash thats not how games like this are designed.

        • I just don't like that my end game raid gear doesn't really match the way I play. Extra heavy is great... But I miss my extra hand cannon ammo/ Handcannon reload bonus/ several other perks I would like my armor to have (that it had before)... I think "reforge" should find its way to raid gear also...

        • I like the idea of more lvl 30 gear. In my opinion bungie was extremely lazy in only creating 1 set of raid gear per class. I would have done something like this. 1. 3-5 sets per class at the very least 2. Wearing multiple pieces of the same set gives bonuses. 3. Purchasable with raid marks, something to offset horrible RnG. 4. The pieces of raid gear would have more unique attributes. ( ie not just more heavy weapon ammo) Multiple sets of unique armor you could mix and match for different combos would've been very interesting. Right now every level 30 looks the same except for their exotic, which is boring. Raid gear in itself is not exciting to me, just a means to an end. The end being level 30.

          • Agree 100%. You should be able to get the speaker to add modes of light to your light level. Use him to level up, a la Demon`s souls. Give the bloody guy something else to do apart from sell you stuff that does nothing and keep the story secret from you.

Yeah. Factions are weird. I never bothered picking one up, figured I'd just rank up my Vanguard and Crucible and could always pick one later. But now I know the armor they sell isn't even top-tier so there's no point pumping in all that rep and crucible marks, unless I want the weapons (other options) or a randomly dropped shader. Still may bother, but Bungie has a lot of things in this game that quickly become irrelevant for players (gunsmith weapons, shipwright, faction armor, vanguard/crucible armor, outfitter, purchasable engrams)

          • People, really. Have we not yet learned? Anything that helps you advance this game faster... BungieVision is not interested in it. Playing the same thing for as long as possible is the goal, so any 'great ideas' that help you level up faster, is counter productive to their goal of keeping you playing the game. I would bet money that once the DLC comes out, lvl 30 will be easier to get to (make everyone feel good) and then 32 will take forever to get to (or until the next DLC) youll get a boost and say "Yeah! im ready to take on this DLC!" then realize youre right back where you started trying to get to 32 and wondering why it takes so long. Theres nothing here. Its supposed to take long.
