Personally I love Destiny PvP. The big joke of the Crucible, however, is that you should deliberately suck or go AFK in order to get the best loot. Without messing with the RNG loot system (which I imagine would be some kind of programming nightmare), I propose the following very simple fix:
In addition to random loot drops following a Crucible match, every accumulated 10,000 points of Crucible score earns a player either a Mote of Light, Strange Coin or Ascendant Material.
With such a fix in place, the Crucible would become an enticing place for good players to accumulate rare currencies. The scrubs could still get their random exotic weapon drops for taking last place; but the best players would have the consolation of knowing that every two or three matches they would be guaranteed a Shard or a Coin or such, whereas it would take bad players ten or a dozen matches to attain the same. But even the bad players would get the goods, just at a much slower pace.
If you like this idea, be sure to comment and hopefully Bungie will take note. Thanks!

y u necro bump this

Amazing idea, except I'd be getting it every 1-2 games. My average is probably around 7000 for control, my highest pushed just past 11K.
-
Hmmm 10,000 points seems a little low i get that in 2 games on avg. Also it seems like i would have no choice but to play control considering the avg player can get 2x the points in the same time playing control rather then clash, and don't even bring 3v3 into this. I'm the type of person who thinks a lot before i do things. I Ask myself all kinds of questions to figure out what can i do to get the most for my time. If i played this when the loot caves were a thing i probably spend some hours on that. So now here come the people who would call me a no life grinder. Yes i like to make the most of time which is why i ask you why would you hate random drops? Random drops is what keeps me and others trying to cheat the system. And if you gave us motes or strange coins for only 10,000 xp xur would charge more like 50 coins to buy a gun. It's call inflation. No one really benefits from this expect the lower ranks. They'll have like 100 motes before they hit lvl 20. I don't think i had 25 when i was lvl 20. Btw got my ice breaker from a 23-0 in rumble, and a hard light when i was top of the leader boards in clash. But how can you say people who play worst have a better chance at a exotic IN A RANDOM LOOT SYSTEM. It's random i don't know how to word any other way

That is a great idea!!

Edited by Batz: 11/20/2014 8:05:42 AMJust came out of this match. Love it! >_> But hey, atleast I had one team mate performing well. That doesnt happen every game :)
In addition to random loot drops following a Crucible match, every accumulated 10,000 points of Crucible score earns a player either a Mote of Light, Strange Coin or Ascendant Material.
none of the above are rare....

You all just put more thought into the Crucible system than the entire BungieVision staff did. Its not meant to help you, its meant to keep you playing. Good luck heroin heroes.
-
That moment when the entire team gets something and you get nothing.
-
there is no skill here. only those with the better exotics or legendaries winning

The Loot system is working as intended Also purchase the Dark Below DLC for $19.99 Read more here: http://www.bungie.net/en/event/darkbelow

Get over you self go yell at mommy for rng
me me me stfu
Skilled Crucible players already get rewards, they get more rep, more marks, and get bounties done quicker. The end game loot is just a lotto bonus for finishing the match. The lowest player doesn't always get a reward at all, much less the best reward. I often see top players getting legendary engrams, strange coins, and even the Monté Carlo on one occasion.

JESUS?! IS THAT YOU????!!!!

Like others, I expected some bad idea out of here. But this is a great idea! I like it
-
I was not sure what to expect when I opened this, but I actually think that this is an excellent idea! Might have to fine tune the number of points, but it would be an excellent reward.

I just started a new topic without actually checking the forums. The topic was basically this but in less detail. I totally agree with what you say, eventually better players are just gunna stop playing because there is no point in putting effort in. You win a game and the bottom player on the ether team gets a legendary engram/exotic item. Currency would be ample reward for playing. I'm quite a competitive player and this game leaves you winning every game for no reason. Searching for competition that isn't there. We so skirmish and we have found our selves doing stuff like sending 1 guy to 3v1 the game for a laugh while we hide. Then joining in at the end to win if we are losing. We just pull it back and all we get are some crucible marks. We have played games in the past in this way and eventually you run out of ideas to mess around with :( so yea reward the good players would be nice :)
-
You dont always get the best loot by being afk. So no change is needed. It should not only ever just award the top players the best items that is why it is rng to begin with. the main reward of pvp are not the bonus match rewards but the marks and reputation.
-
Crucibles rewards have two problems: randomness and quality of the award. It should really be based off a combination of tiered randomness and contributions increasing accessibility. For example the top player gets an automatic mote of light with an increased chance of the light being a strange coin instead. It's a simple example just to demonstrate we don't have to go too far to make it feel like the game can reward players without breaking the concept of earning stuff. Even ascendant energy would be great. But the way it is now does create the problem of incentives and tangibility: am I being rewarded for winning? Am I being rewarded for effort? Do I walk away with the impression that even if I disliked the match I at least got awarded for my efforts? For right now, it would be a no for crucible at all levels and that's where some of these problems are I feel. Crucible doesn't have to start rewarding exotics and legendary engrams but it does need to achieve a point of maturity where you know you can at least "earn" something worthwhile enough times to make it worth doing. Hell if they gave away even Heavy Ammo consumables it'd be a bigger incentive than anything I am getting from there right now.
-
Yup. This would encourage competition for sure without changing the current, (albeit horribly bullshitty,) system. This would ensure that the players who aren't very skilled will still have a chance at loot, while guaranteeing useful items to players who are skilled. The loot system would still be stupid, just more bearable.
-
I like this idea, there should be 100% reward system for contributors.
-
Personally I love Destiny PvP. The big joke of the Crucible, however, is that you should deliberately suck or go AFK in order to get the best loot.
You know what RNG is ?
-
Just make it where the top scoring player (MVP) of the game gets 10 of one of those. Suddenly people will try to be the best and not just mess around. (Could backfire in spurring on more hunters/shotguns/fusion rifles/camping/tbagging/rude messages)
-
I would leave the system as is just to keep annoying people like you. Calling someone " scrub " because they're not as good as you at something is pretty immature, it shows just easily you look down on people and put yourself on a pedestal. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you ... the human equation. The reason why we fail as a species.
-
A more favorible rng system would be better across the board i reckon i.e. the longer you go without having gotten a legendary the higher % chance of getting one.
-
Id love it if you could attain engrams from guardians. I play 10 matches and end up with 3horrible blue weapons, a shader I have, and a decoherent blue. I want some kind of reward besides horrible crucible guns everyone has
-
I'm down with that sickness
