Once I was at a summer camp when I got lost in the woods. When I finally got my bearings, I was at an old playground, where everything was eerily silent. No birds, no wind, nothing. Then the rusty merry go round began to spin on its own. Sketchy

The layout of the land could have been slightly slanted to where the eye can't perceive if due to compensation. If this is the case the merry go round will periodically break its static energy requirements and have enough momentum to periodically move on its own.
-
A rusty merry go round moving on its own? Doubtful
-
It's a natural optical illusion just like in cases where cars would seemingly move uphill on its own because the eye interpreted it to be uphill when in reality it was slanted downward.
-
Yes, the merry-go-round that was difficult for my 8 year old self to push on my own broke it's static statement and moved due to gravity.

The car used were difficult for grown men to push yet it still happened. Do you want me to go on to psychology to express how your mind may have overridden the actual event and create a false, exaggerated, version of it?
-
How did you react?

I ran my -blam!-ing ass off lol

Already said in the post no wind. Lol
