I kind of thought the same about the vanguard armory. Gets really useless pretty early on.

The vanguard armory was a preorder thing, and was meant to give you access to decent weapons before level 20. By the time it gets useless you should have access to the endgame stuff. If the exclusive armor was available early on and this actually served a purpose of any kind, even a brief and ultimately meaningless purpose, that would have been better - instead it may as well not exist at all.

Vanguard weapons were obsolete before level 10

The first set of vanguard weapons were level 5. When you reached level 10, a level 10 set became available. :)

Nope. They are all level 6.

Except for the ones currently available to all three of my characters, which are level 10, and have been available to them since they reached level 10 (because I bought and used them). :/

That was fine and all but I had better guns already. They were obsolete

All three of my characters were using the vanguard stuff until around level 14 or 15 when they started finding rare tier weapons. If you were lucky enough to have rare tier weapons below level 10 - which, not to call you a liar, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any - then awesome. That makes you a rare exception that in no way applies to the average experience of the rest of the player base.

Fair enough. I'm pretty sure the lowest level rare tier gear is level 10 though so you'd be pretty lucky to find some that quickly. Otherwise the vanguard weapons are actually pretty decent, and useful through most of the campaign until Mars, which is when you'll most likely start getting rare weapon drops.
