No. Why? > 0 audio communication > People without mics > People that don't speak your language > AFK people > Underleveled people > Undergeared people > Rage quitters The current system allows you to prescreen for all of these things.

  • The first three about communication are tricky but not impossible. Games have previously proven that you can have almost perfect in-game communication. The Call of Duty franchise (specifically MW2) introduced forced game-chat, and in the heyday of the franchise most every S&D match I would play would have near 100% players talking. Because I live in the US and most everyone here speaks English to a degree and I would be connecting via the North American servers, it isn't hard to find people that speak my language. This may be more challenging for Europe and possibly the Pacific region, but I'm not sure. For the concern of AFK, I'm actually perplexed as to how this continues to be a problem for Bungie to handle as any other game would be able to kick inactive players. Also the in-game reporting should be doing something. Underlevel players also shouldn't be a problem as they are proving they can introduce level restrictions (Iron Banner 2.0). Also the current matchmaking puts you with players of the same level, I have yet to be in a strike fireteam with anyone more than 1 level below me. I don't understand a problem of underage players, it's a T-rated game, they should be expecting T-rated kids to play their T-rated content. And Rage-quitters happen even in the current system (there is no system).

Undergeared, not underage. though I do dislike little kids most times. --- Edit --- Adding a voice communication system (forced or semi-opt-in) would go a long way towards dealing with a large number of these issues, however it still unfortunately doesn't address most. While I agree that some games have proven that complete randoms with forced voice chat can work together well (such as cod in certain game modes) most games prove that it typically results in nothing more than name calling and background noise. Take Battlefield or Halo for instance, those games rely pretty heavily on team work yet it is RARE to hear anyone say anything at all (let alone anything remotely helpful). It would also require players to listen to an individual, and follow their directions. With the current system you have both a party and fire team leader, you've got your boss right there. You kind of have to listen to them, or you're going to lose and eventually be kicked. Which brings me to my next point: vote to kick. As much as I believe this feature is required, most games have proven that it does more harm than good (LoL, Wildstar, WoW, etc). Players will vote to kick or abandon if one thing goes wrong, or one person screws up.
more on the way, sorry.
• My mistake. The light leveling system would work in tandem with the required level for entry which I would assume it would be set at 26. That would require at least 2 pieces of legendary armor with the blue gear maxed out. And now that Xur is pretty common, exotics aren't impossible to come by.

  • The lowest a player can queue up for VoG is level 24, which I think we can all agree would make them pretty useless. I don't really care how good you are, at that low a level your weapons are about as effective as shouting at the enemies. I suppose I should have elaborated more on undergeared. Light level serves as your item level, which works for your armour level, but people still try to queue up for Hard mode with blue guns or new unlevelled legendary weapons. and we're right back to shouting at enemies.
