This. Exactly this. I never owned an XBox, and I wasn't allowed by my parents at the time to play Halo 1 on PC, but I still snuck out to an internet cafe, lived at my friend's house, did whatever it took to play every Halo game as it came out because not only were the gameplay mechanics sweet, the levels beautiful, and the character designs intriguing, the story was so deep I always felt that, at the end of each game, I had saved the world. Destiny? Nothing. Not even a glimmer. The story is so abbreviated it's practically nonexistent. There are mumblings about a Traveler, about Light, about a Golden Age--it's summed up perfectly when, in the first cinematic opportunity Bungie had to make us care about the characters and world, the Speaker says "I could tell you". That right there, RIGHT THERE, is exactly the problem with this game. You could have told us, Bungie; you just didn't.
