MAJOR UPDATE:
Deej responded to me calling his attention to this thread in another thread. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/76633207/0/0
It will probably get buried rather quickly because every time he posts, 1000 replies follow.
You weren't ignored. I read that.
The point that Harold was making was that, when someone plays a game for 100 hours, you learn a lot. We've obviously created something you want to play. It's very obvious that you want to talk to us about how it can be better. When we stay focused on game feedback, good things can happen.
EDIT: Please read the article I linked to before posting. I have been accused of taking his statement out of context, which I do not feel I did at all, and I want to make sure that no one feels like I mislead them.
Harold Ryan: It's so broad. When I read a lot of the feedback, and I see it's after playing for 100 hours, it's hard not to couch that in, well if you played the game for 100 hours... What other game do you play for 100 hours, right?
This is not grounds for dismissing our feedback like you suggest. I'm calling you out. What games do we play for more than 100 hours? Since you don't seem to know of any, please allow me and my fellow gamers to educate you.
Fellow Bungie.net users, please feel free to add to this list and/or tweet away @Bungie or @Destiny your ideas about how many other games you can put more than 100 hours into. I'll start.

Bump for hundred hour justice!
-
Had a few more. Freespace 1 Galactic Civilisations 1/2 Dune (Amiga) Turrican 1/2 (Amiga)
-
It's odd how a developer would choose to ignore those people that put more time into a game than they possibly could, instead only listening to people that have less experience and more likely know less about the game
-
You are an idiot

Check, and mate.

Edited by Two Nuhh: 10/31/2014 10:14:03 PMMr. Ryan, 100 hours isn't shit and you know it. I put that kind of time into an old game called Mappy Land for the orignal NES when I was FOUR f*cking years old. To add to the list (note: these games were played before I hit the age of 6. Each with over 100hrs played) -Mutant League Hockey -Sonic (1 & 2) -Super Mario (1-3) -Tetris -Faxanadu -Link -Contra -Snake Rattle & Roll -Streets of Rage (1-3) -Mortal Kombat And a couple dozen others. That was on the god damned NES (or Sega). Far less advanced consoles... And it's a surprise to you, Mr. Ryan, that negative feedback comes from players with over 100 hours? Admittedly, I have an unhealthy amount of time spent on Destiny. Has some of it been enjoyable? Absolutely. Has the majority of it been spent grinding through the mundane monotony that is Destiny? Sadly, it has indeed. Bottom line is, too much hype for such little content & replay value. Grind for this so you can grind for that. There is no difficulty to the game. There is cheese on every mission, every strike, and it especially plagues the Raid. All of the cheese demeans the purpose and point. The end-game is nothingness. It is when the player decides its the end game because there's no point in continuing on. The grind is for nothing because the loot means nothing- unless you want the game to be even easier than it already is. It takes no skill, no mental capacity to think critically, just time, and lots of it. Oh and luck... a metric f*ck-ton of luck. The artificial level-caps posed by the flawed RNG system... On and on and on. I'm done.

100 hours? I have 15 hours of gameplay and 85 hours of grinding. If I could take all my 500+ unused gunparts and 700+ Hadronic essences I could build a main battle tank and really feel like a legend. Instead i have a Sparrow which seems to be the futures version of a Prius. At least I could do a driveby in a Prius.

Harold's comment shows how tone deaf Bungie has become. Not a good trend.
-
This reminds me of Jay Wilson's comment on Diablo 3. "You don't remember Diablo 2."
-
any xenosaga was easily 100 hours with out doing EVERYTHING, kingdom hearts, the legend of dragoon, grand turismo

Edited by Jubei2010: 10/31/2014 11:07:41 PMI played the greatest first person shooter of modern times. Wait for it...wait for it...The Persian Gulf war I and II. Probably over 1000 hours.
-
Ultima Online. I've played that for over 16 years now.
-
Edited by D4rkFr4g: 10/31/2014 6:00:24 PMI think you're missing the point. Out of all the games you've listed that you've played over a 100+ hours, how many of them did you dislike or hate and still played over 100+ hours?
-
Harold Ryan: It's so broad. When I read a lot of the feedback, and I see it's after playing for 100 hours, it's hard not to couch that in, well if you played the game for 100 hours... What other game do you play for 100 hours, right?
The vagueness is strong in this one.
-
Yeah bungee you butthole!!! 100 hours ain't shit!!! That's only two and half weeks of a full time job! If you went to college likely it's less than two weeks!!! I've logged 200 hours on Skyrim during one Christmas break! And I get laid!! Boom!
-
Im willing to bet if I showed my /played in everquest Mr. harold ryan would shit his pants.
-
BALDURS GATE 1 & 2. I have gazillion hours playing these two games. Hell im still playing them today!
-
YOu forgot zoo tycoon and rollercoaster tycoon

Harold Ryan: "We're building a sizeable team just to work on the live game. That group is continuing to get better at taking feedback from the community and building on patches and updates to the world." EuroGamer: "Can you speak about any of those game play changes in any detail?" Harold Ryan: "No." Why would they discuss changes to the game with EuroGamer when they don't even discuss them with their own "community"? Stop calling the players your "community" if they don't have any impact on what you decide to release. Stop hiding behind analytics and statistics and pretending like you are using them as the basis for how you plan your day. Harold, you have already decided to hack the game up into bits and pieces that you can sell back to us every other month. You have already decided that if your "community" figures out how to get through that content faster than you can sell it to us then you will drop the hammer, lest we run out of crap to grind and stop for a second to reflect on what a tremendous let down this game is.
-
Lmao Suck it Harold

Edited by N7Spartan: 10/31/2014 8:59:33 PMThe whole thing rather read as a stay on message. DLC has heaps that was worked on for 90 days? Buy it. The Exotic Bounty as insperation for DLC Story has me slightly worried If we're all sent through all the shared content of the DLC the shared strike and the PvP maps to tell the next bit of not explaining why we are doing this, or if there is any progress in victory. I'm not doing Heavy PvP bounties (100 void kills + death offset) But then I'm in excess of 100 hours so this opionion/feedback could be considered as irrelevent to Bungie.
-
Edited by N7Spartan: 10/31/2014 9:01:35 PMSo If 100 hours is too much time invested into Destiny to provide unbiased feedback to improve Destiny. Although it's means we've seen more of the overall game provided or examined/experienced bugs and things enough that they are bugs. If they have a 10 year plan that they want us to follow them on, with 8700+ hours in a year. Thats 87,000 hours a single player has access to their Destiny journey. So Bungie would rather us spend less then 100 hours on Destiny for 10 years and then our feed back would be considered valuable for their new IP? I'm Sorry if I replay games because for various reasons I get some of entertainment out of them. Apparently thats inflating my game time past 100 and making me a biased gamer that cannot provide an element of feedback that may contribute improving or evolving their overall product.
