The mercantile system in this game loses functionality very quickly. Other than factions and engram decrypts , there is little to no reason to interact with the merchants. They simply have nothing to offer higher level players.
This is a clear indication that something went wrong. It's either with the loot system in the game or with the duration of the story that was intended to be provided at release.
I say this because we are clearly reaching level cap much more quickly than this economy and loot system is designed for.
The variety of designs in uncommon and rare gear imply that we were intended to spend a considerably greater period of time in that level range.

Aha, thoughtful guardian! Spectacular observation! Perhaps you should dedicate a portion of your time to write a post concerning this issue? I will gladly post of it sooner or later if you do not feel like it, good sir. Thanks for the constructive feedback!

I wondered why I keep getting uniquely named Rares that do nothing for me and only would have helped me early on the game. Why spend so much time making those that, even after 7 days of in-game playtime, I'm still getting ones I've never seen before if they were only useful for a very short window during week one and/or two?

Edited by Night Owl: 10/31/2014 9:15:53 AMI'm still waiting to see the Playstation exclusive gear. Nobody I play with has found the helm yet. Too bad it will serve no purpose other than as a novelty item. The addition of a transmog feature would rectify this situation and provide more incentive to actively farm engrams as well. It would certainly allow for a more diverse appearance within the community.

Indeed. The majority of the gear in the game is only useful in the 15 or so hours that it takes to get to level 20. After that, using anything less than a Legendary is not only pointless, but unnecessary. I wish they had limited the Rares more and added to the pool of Legendary and Exotic items, considering the fact that most of us are using only those grades of items exclusively after 15-20 hours.

Ok....what is that in reference to?

Edited by Night Owl: 10/31/2014 9:49:09 AMEspecially when you consider that "Destiny really begins at level 20"

If you don't mind, this could use a bump or two. Hopefully, you don't find it juvenile. I'm just getting sick of misleading bullshit from Bungie. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/76140333
