Divide your cost by playtime

This is for Everyone saying this game or the DLC isn't worth the money... Divide your cost by your playtime in hours and you'll get what this game cost you per hour... If you actually played all the content including completion of the raid atleast once, there's no way you can even argue it wasn't worth it.. I see people always complaining its not enough content for the cost, but if you actually played all the content there's no way you paid more then a buck per hour of fun lol.. What the hell kinda game spoiled all of you.. EDIT: some are saying that there 200+ hours of playtime don't count because they didn't have fun during it..... You guys make my brain hurt lol EDIT: So.. Apparently some may be forced to play against there will .. In this case please don't use the simple formula because it won't work for you.. PS: I'm really sorry that this is happening to you I didn't realize that there was some kind of sick slavery ring where people are forced to play games against there will..

  • This game has made me money. I play all day at work (thanks big business micro-management) and did not have to purchase a copy. I've seen more beaver than Ron Jeremy. I would be the last segment on a 1000 person human centipede for something else to do is this game. Let us all join together in the Tower for a mass Guardian suicide. Hopefully something shiny will catch my attention and kick me to reality.

  • Not an "argument" per se... But more of a point of view. Sure, as far as "hours played" vs "money spent" goes...sure you get your money's worth. But I also take into account how much actual CONTENT there is in the game to gauge my money's worth. I'm not going to pretend I haven't enjoyed Destiny. I certainly have. But I feel like Bungie has less material in the game and gave it re-playability saying "Here's A TON of content because you can play it over and over again." Not always a bad thing, just some people prefer other types of games. I think the first 6 months or so will weed out those who prefer this type of game from the people who don't.

  • Haha playtime doesn't count because you didn't have fun. That makes you a moron for playing an unfun game. Leave now please. Candy crush won't beat itself.

  • I did a similar break down in a thread that is somewhere in the bowls of this forum now. Assumptions: > 2 DLCs released each year for 10 years > Cost of each DLC is $20 Math & Stuff: $20*2 DLCs = $40 total anual cost $40/12 months in a year = $3.33/month You would need to save $3.33 each month to buy the two DLCs. I am not trying to be offensive here, but their are homeless people who can save up this amount.

  • I agree, any game you can sink 200+ hours into and still hop on to play a few times a week is great in my opinion!

  • My friend actually looked at it that way too. He technically spent $120 (disc and a year of gold). Sure he complained about the lack of content, but he poured some good hours into it, so he was satisfied. I on the other hand spent about $130 something (preorder disc, three months of gold, expansion pass) and I feel as if I got my money's worth from day one. Still I am a little upset that xbox users get the short end of the stick on DLC. Guess this is what it feels like to be a ps3 user lol.

    • I get your take on things but the way I view it isn't about gameplay. Like you post mentions I focus on how much I get compared to the full game. $20 is a third of the full game price and I don't think the DLC is providing a third of the content. There is not enough incentive based on what they announced today but I am ok with it. I played the shit out of Destiny and feel fine leaving when the DLC's come out.

    • exactly what I do many times ans some of my friends laugh at me and think its stupid but it is a hobby and when i pay 60€ for a game and spend 60 h playing it its a pretty cheap hobby. P.S.: I played destiny way more than 60 hours already,.....

      • No cuz there is nothing else to play, it says nothing about destiny, I played defiance for over a year, it kinda sucked, but lack of any games made me do it oh, and also Did you read the patch notes for the FF XIV update yesterday? Puts Destiny's "expansion" to shame. New class, with a complete storyline for it New raids. With an S. New Primal fight. New Hard Mode dungeons(with a new storyline and bosses for each) New crafting recipes. New main story questlines. Multiple new side questlines. And this is just a free patch. Not paid DLC or Expansion.

        • That's actually a very good way to look at it. The game that I compare it to gives me about an $0.07/hr cost to my DLC enjoyment. So relatively if Destiny's DLC doesn't approach that then I'm going to find it lacking. Not that $1/hr isn't affordable or a better deal than what I'd get from a movie or a night out to dinner but if we are comparing entertainment dollar values then its got some pretty stiff competition before it becomes an automatic buy for me.

        • Right now I am at 68 cents an hour. Yup, I've gotten more than my moneys worth, and the cost will only go down. And - about the story being full of holes - I pity those of you who don't get it. It must be so sad to be without imagination and vision. You see holes, I see mysteries and story hooks. The best is yet to come, and what is here is a lot of fun.

        • Hours don't = enjoyment which is where "value" really lies. Thanks for trying though.

Okay here's the equation: Money Spent / Time Playing Game X Mountain Dews Drank X Nerf Threads Posted + RNG = % You Enjoyed The Game

          • I don't see the arguments made against this idea. If you don't like it then why are you playing? If your response is "there's nothing else to play" then you are finding some sense of enjoyment, because if you didn't you wouldn't play, it's really that simple. $0.31 / hour for me

          • The equation really should be a bit more complex than (money)/time = value. By that same logic the best movies are the longest ones, the best ride at the theme park would be the one with the longest line, etc. For my self I play because I got rid of the 360 for the Xbone and this is the only title I own currently, but I can't honestly say I enjoy mindlessly grinding the same patrols or running the same circle farming materials for hours. I don't enjoy the frustration of frequent DC issues, not getting credit for soloed open events because at the same moment the credit would be rewarded I'm kicked out to orbit, Literaly hours spent trying to find or build a party for VoG because there is no way to do so in game. Feeling forced to sit through brutally unenjoyable crucible rounds as the only way to obtain items one would think would increase ones DPS. Now there are aspects I enjoy that cause me to endure ALL of the above, When you finally DO get a good fireteam and complete a tough run, finally getting that exotic or purple drop, maxing the upgrades on gear or subclasses, etc. This type of game pushes you to spend a ton of time on things you don't necessarily enjoy to hit the moments when you do. So the real equation should be more like. (money/time)*overall satisfaction = value

          • $0.34 an hour. When did I put 55 hours into my ALT!? That's the thing about the DLC. I wish there were more story missions to the DLC, but either way, I know I'll get more than my $/hr out of it.

          • I enjoy Destiny. It is a fun game. I agree with some of the complaints tho. I would have loved to see a story as fleshed out as any of the Mass Effect games. Heck, even half the amount of stories they had in a single game. I'm not giving up on Destiny, but I am slightly disappointed in the lack of content. Yes the $/hr played is low. I will most likely purchase the DLCs. I just wish there was more meat on the bone.

            • Got the Limited at a discount at Best Buy, just $75. So including the DLC I've paid for but don't have yet: $1.01 an hour. Not too shabby. I probably pay more for cable usage.
