Divide your cost by playtime

This is for Everyone saying this game or the DLC isn't worth the money... Divide your cost by your playtime in hours and you'll get what this game cost you per hour... If you actually played all the content including completion of the raid atleast once, there's no way you can even argue it wasn't worth it.. I see people always complaining its not enough content for the cost, but if you actually played all the content there's no way you paid more then a buck per hour of fun lol.. What the hell kinda game spoiled all of you.. EDIT: some are saying that there 200+ hours of playtime don't count because they didn't have fun during it..... You guys make my brain hurt lol EDIT: So.. Apparently some may be forced to play against there will .. In this case please don't use the simple formula because it won't work for you.. PS: I'm really sorry that this is happening to you I didn't realize that there was some kind of sick slavery ring where people are forced to play games against there will..

Exactly how many masochists are playing this game? How the hell you can play a game for 100+ hours without enjoying it? Why don't you do the household tasks instead? Still not entertaining, but at least you do something useful.

  • After 30 hours of Destiny its a grind for any additional time you may have earned. Hopping on to help others or do dailies that are not fun do not count. You can have an INFINITE amount of time to play the game, but if you do not like it- How is that fair? Here's a case and point. a Indie game, Terraria, I love. There is always something to do, even when there's nothing to do. I paid 15$ for it a LONG time ago. I still play it. Time invested to money spent? Who knows? You go check the beta release of the game. Destiny? Ugh. I want my money back, they can have my time back after the DLC Low Blow to Xbox users. (Before you say that's not how it works, that's your opinion. We've been playing this game, HOPING, with our hopes constantly shattered.)

  • so I am just suppose to take hours and money spent and come up if its was worth it, wouldn't it be more logical to compare the outcome with other games money spent and time played. If you compared them destiny would loose because of the time it has been out and a lot of people are leaving already. So was destiny worth the purchase compared to other games I play, in its current state no. At least that is my opinion, you have one too (which the way it looks bungie doesn't care what our opinions are).

Take your playtime and multiply it by zero. Take the result and add 20 to it. Take 60 divided by 20. Now you have officially received the amount of "original" gameplay. Everything beyond this threshold is considered artificial grinding and no longer becomes "content". It's simply rehashed content with modifiers on it.

  • I love you. This post is exactly what I think all of the time. And if anyone said it didn't count because they weren't having fun...that's just stupid. If you aren't having fun don't play it...

    • addictive gameplay, nor forceful grinding gameplay does NOT reveal the quality of a game, nor the VALUE of said game. i have over 500 hours in QWOP, does that mean the game is uber good, or worth 60 bucks? nope, the amount of time one spends ina game doesn't mean a goddamn thing, stop trying this defense for this game, the fact is, bungie -blam!-ed the player base, they lied and failed to deliver, they refuse to acknowledge their screwups, they relentlessly shit on xbox users though this bullshit ps exclusivity bullshit.

      • But they are right it wasn't fun and most likely wasn't worth their time. You must be easily entertained, I could make a mini game where it takes you 2 hours to run to point A talk a guy then run another 2 hrs to point B shoot a guy run back to point A again damn 6 hours of game play for ya. The game isn't worth the time or money. If the DLC is really that short it will be a day before it's all beat. The only thing is time will drag on because of the grinding you will have to do with in the new raid to get the gear needed for lvl 32, which will have a drop rate of 1% or so lol. IDEA: Divide what you think your IQ is by 2 then subtract that number from itself to reach your new IQ level. If you can't do that math the answer is 0. TA DA.

      • I'm pretty sure that Bungie racked up the hours-required-to-progress through repetitive, crappy strike missions and "patrols" (aka Dinklebot BS or collect the triangles BS). Not sure if you can't comprehend that impacting the "cost / hours" discussion or just want to be a DLC white knight. But either way, nobody's like, AW YEAH THAT GUY HAS A POINT I SHULD BE BETTER AT INTERNET STUF. We just think, what a sucker. And then we forget about your lecture.

      • I agree with you, but just to be clear, most people are complaining that the game is just too repetitive. Especially the strikes as there are way too little of them. Also, the only way to do level 24 strikes is the Tiger playlist which can give you the exact same strike 3 times in a row! Sure, I am looking to do them at 28 once the DLC hits (at least I think that is going to be inlcuded, is it?), but the fun of challenge is going to wear out soon and it will get back to repetitive again. The dailies and patrol are what mostly keep me interested today, they are a bit of variation and fun at least. I am not a very big fan of the Raid. And some people have 3 chars and to all the daily/weekly content over and over with those. Sure you might say more chars add more variety, but in reality you have to repeat everything 3 times as many times.

          • This is a dumb statement. People paid to play this game all year long so your logic is BS. We paid to play a game during our free time and not have to worry about BS like getting kicked right at the end of a match. I'm not even going to go into all the other garbage there doing to this game but I will say this. This game has AWSOME potential and when all the bugs get fixed I think it will be a great game. But until then people have every right to complain about paying whatever amount of money for this game and Bungie needs to get there shit together!!

            • I posted this response in a similar thread and thought it fit well here too. It doesn't matter that a movie is about the same cost as the expansion because it is comparing apples and oranges. That is like saying no one should ever complain about the price of a movie compared to getting a lapdance because that is 20$ for three minutes. It's nonsensical. $50 for an MMO expansion is the real comparison because it is the closest comparison in the industry. For most games that covers months and months of content, new worlds and regions to explore, new levels and talents, new items, new PvP etc etc. So the reason people are complaining and feeling slighted is because it is well below the market norm. They have good reason to complain, and should continue to do so. It's important that the market speak its mind. This game has a fun base, but most people were starved for content within a week or two. It was released bare bones with DLC only two months out. Even then, no new planets, only 3 missions, limited PvP modes, etc, etc. In addition to that, players on XBox pay the exact same amount for less content? That is ridiculous. I am on the playstation, but you must see how wrong that is? It shows that all they care about is a pricepoint timeline. Not value provided. That shows a lack of care for the gamers themselves. Not all of bungie naturally, but those making these financial decision. The first DLC should have been free to make the game feel more complete. Then people would have felt better. Don't get me wrong. People do need to provide constructive feedback, speak with their wallets, and critically think about the amount of enjoyment they get for the money, but the analogy that most people use about the cost of a movie is a bad comparison. If that is a fair comparison then you can just as easily say that the cost of a movie is far too expensive. It should cost $.40 total since you can get 100 hours out of a video game that costs $20 setting the price at $.20 an hour for entertainment. This is more about feeling like you got your monies worth, and although this is exceptionally designed and a strong base, it locks in execution, delivery, and content. I personally don't feel like I got my monies worth. At the same time, and to play devil's advocate, try to remember this. World of Warcraft was $60 for vanilla and $15 a month. Even at a discounted rate of $10 a month, which never happened, that would mean it cost you $180 a year to play. If Destiny is competing in the same genre then in order to charge that amount ($60 for the game and then $20 every two months for a total of $180) then I am going to want to see new worlds, maps, PvP modes, subclasses, weapons and armor, MANY more missions, and the world around me evolve and grow as the story develops, etc etc because that is what other developers are providing for the same price.

              • I agree 100%. There's nothing wrong with not linking teh game. All opinions are valid. But if it took you 200+ hours to figure out that you didn't like the game, there's something wrong with you, and if you played for more than 20 hours you can't argue that you didn't get a good value for your money. A large portion of the community here is loud, entitled and aggressively stupid.

                • half of my hours involve loading screens and prices differ between country's eg in aus we pay $100-$120 were as in the us you pay 50-60 in aus we get ripped of strait from purchase so it annoys us more when we get a broken game so your argument is flawed

                • This doesn't work. Dollars divided by time is not enough. It needs to be dollars divided by quality time (which is still wholly unreliable, though it is more reliable than the vanilla dollars/time. If that fraction of quality time is larger than the fraction of non-quality time, then it's worth it if that "$/quality time" quantity is very low. Unfortunately, games which artificially increase their length through excessive grinding don't always score high on the metric 'quality time,' and Destiny certainly falls into this category for some folks.

                  • I divide most stuff up by 2 bucks an hour under that is even better most video games it's worth it. Dlc is 99% uncharted 3 didn't play enough. Or maybe bio shock infinite. Plus for physical games you can always sell get some money back.

                    • divide the cost of your food by its caloric content. Never mind flavor or health implications. Playtime is not a perfect measure of the value of a product.
