How can player wear what they want and still be level 30?
As it stands the only way to reach lvl 30 is to have 4 peices of armor with 30 light each. As exotics can reach 30 light the rest of the armor must be obtained through random armor drops by playing the Raid, everything else is worthless. I believe this is not the best way to reach lvl 30 because it completley ruins the entire armor system.
First, it makes every other legendary armor obsolete because regular armor caps at 27 light.
Playing on your lvl 30 and just got a sweet legendary drop? oh it's a legendary armor engram? No way it reloads auto rifles quicker? Well, dismantled.
Secondly, it prevents players from customizing their characters to their play style by making default characters with all the same armor perks.
Want your lvl 30 character to specialize in hand cannons by being able to reload them quicker and hold more ammo for them? Too bad you get to reload special weapons faster and hold more heavy ammo like everyone else!
And what happens when they raise the level cap? Will all the armor currently in the game become useless?
Well I might have a solution for that.
Bungie could add a random drop from the raid called a "VOG Seal" or something. What this does is you can apply it to any piece of legendary armor and it unlocks another progression sphere on that armor to be leveled up and increase it's light to 30.
Now any and all legendary armor is now useful.
Obviously there will be some limitations like, it can only be applied to a piece of armor once, cannot be applied to armor that already has a max light cap of 30, etc...
The same concept can be applied to the new raid and dlc coming out. With this I think everyone wins.
Players can use which armor they want but still be required to play the raids.
Problem: Raid Armor,
- Is the only way to reach lvl 30.
- Makes every other armor obsolete.
- Ruins character customization by having everyone be a default lvl 30 character.
Solution:
- Add a random drop for a "raid seal" which can be applied to any legendary armor to increase it's light
Thoughts?

Necrobump again

It has also forced me to have 0 discipline and 200 percent strength... I am a warlock and am now ashamed

You dont need to be level 30 unless you want to do the hard raid. The armor set is designed to do raid. You can hit level 29 with regular legendary gear and that is more than you need for any activity in the game except raid. Whats the problem here ?
-
Iron Banner and the DLC will open up some new options. I do agree though but honestly you really only need to equip your raid gear in the raid. I change mine up regularly and drop rank if I'm not doing anything too difficult it or playing pvp.
-
Decent idea, post title has nothing to do with it. You should edit for clarity.
-
Names kinda misleading. It's a good idea but the threads mostly about raid equips.
-
I get you. I just dont know if matchmaking is the way to get this. a regular raid last about what 2 hours? maybe an hour if everyone knows what to do and has the capability to do it. do you really think randoms are gonna care if they finish or not. i doubt it. an easier option should be implemented. or a ban of some sorts for those who quit. like a week ban if you quite a raid.
-
I think matchmaking could work. They would need to do a preferred role thing. Sort of like what evolve does.
-
No. If you really want to hit 30, put the work in. Find a team, fight with them, grind the raids until you get the gear. It's not going to happen the 1st time, or even the 8th time...but that's the point. You gotta be in it to win it, give up and that's you're loss. Stop begging for Bungie to give you a quick fix that's only going to end up f*cking things up in the long run. Matchmaking is useless because random players in that type of environment are more likely to bicker like they do on this forum than actually get on the same page and get things done. And you call every other piece of armor in the game but Raid gear worthless OP? Do me a favor, trade Destiny in now. Not only are you an entitled twat who wants a shortcut to get what others have grinded out for the easy way, but you completely misconstrue and de-value the process of which to do so.
-
I like this idea. Make that seal harder to get if some people think that it would make the game too easy. This is the only way I see that can make our guardians unique. Just like what the OP said, with this, I can have a whole set of armors dedicated to handguns/shot guns and use that for maybe PVP? If this week's NF is of a specific burn and I have a great fusion rifle for it, then I can have another set of armor that holds more ammo and reloads FR faster. Everybody wins in my opinion !

VoG seals? Yes. That's actually a great idea. Matchmaking? Pass.
-
Welcome to the world of all mmo's don't like it? Tough titties.
-
i like the armor idea as far as MM goes, bungie said it's not gonna happen so get over it already
-
I heard that the new NPC in The Dark Below, Eris, has missions that will increase your light level...
-
matchmaking is a horrible idea, no offence. the vog requires skilled players and teamwork that has to be organized before entering. Not randoms. now that teleports are random, you need to have everyone in there capable of operating The Aegis Shield. Everyone needs to know how to kill the oracles.
-
Matchmaking would ruin the VoG hands down. All people just rage quitting and retards joining in to do stupid shit. It's not that hard to invite people. What they need is some type of voice chat
-
I do agree with what you are saying, but here is the truth about level 30. It only serves to help you in the Raid on Hard mode. That's it. Most of the raid armor doesn't even look that good. Especially the Hunter's Grieves. Most of the raid armor only gives you perks for killing stuff found only in the raid (oracles and Praterians(sp?)). Most level 30s keep their raid set for the raid and use other stuff for everything else. I understand you want to hit the level cap, but it's not really that special. If Bungie implemented more stuff outside the raid for level 30s, than I would agree with you 100%. As for matchmaking, I wouldn't mind it because I play during the night and don't mind helping randoms through the raid. Before anyway says it, My Hunter will be level 30 after one or two upgrades to the Grieves. I know many high level players who can be level 30 when they want, but typically don't show it so random people don't spam them with invites.
-
Your idea about the VOG seal is really good But you ruined the post with the matchmaking thing People are just ignoring that good idea and focusing on the one sentence in the title
-
need players for Vault of Glass, message me i am a level 28 hunter PSN:DavidTheDinosour.
-
>"Bungie could add a random drop from the raid called a "VOG Seal" or something." Mark of Glass when >Done the Vault of Glass 11+ times now >Every single time was with random players I fully support Match-Making for Raids.
-
Damn, you is smart
-
One of the better ideas that has been well thought out. Add in a solo raid/battle/duel that rewards us that don't like to team up and I thought of this last night.... A LARGE battle between 15-20 guardians and numerous hoards of all enemy types and bosses... The best part about destiny is gameplay, let's face it while facing swarms of thralls u dont have time to dissect everything that might be wrong with bungie.... Long story short, keep us guardians on our toes Bungie
-
If you want to attempt to raid with a bunch of randoms, that's fine. But don't force me to do it. Make it opt in only. I would rather beat it with 4 people than have randoms forced on my team. Weak players are actually more of a burden than help. In fact, I really wish that I could do Tiger strikes solo or +1 rather than get stuck with a weak or AFK player riding along for the loot. Matchmaking the raid really is a bad idea. If you can't find four or five people to play the raid with, then you just aren't trying very hard to look.
-
Matchmaking would be great. I would try it, I'm not doing anything on Destiny now anyway, so I don't care if we fail the mission or some people are AFK. It's still worth a try.
-
Best idea I've seen for the light level problem was using motes of light. You could potentially take common gear all the way to raid tier. Just rub some motes of light on it and boom. Would still incentivize the grind and actually make those things worth something.
-
That's fine, the raid gear would still be marginally better though because it has other perks like Vex breaker and Oracle disruptor.
