How can player wear what they want and still be level 30?
As it stands the only way to reach lvl 30 is to have 4 peices of armor with 30 light each. As exotics can reach 30 light the rest of the armor must be obtained through random armor drops by playing the Raid, everything else is worthless. I believe this is not the best way to reach lvl 30 because it completley ruins the entire armor system.
First, it makes every other legendary armor obsolete because regular armor caps at 27 light.
Playing on your lvl 30 and just got a sweet legendary drop? oh it's a legendary armor engram? No way it reloads auto rifles quicker? Well, dismantled.
Secondly, it prevents players from customizing their characters to their play style by making default characters with all the same armor perks.
Want your lvl 30 character to specialize in hand cannons by being able to reload them quicker and hold more ammo for them? Too bad you get to reload special weapons faster and hold more heavy ammo like everyone else!
And what happens when they raise the level cap? Will all the armor currently in the game become useless?
Well I might have a solution for that.
Bungie could add a random drop from the raid called a "VOG Seal" or something. What this does is you can apply it to any piece of legendary armor and it unlocks another progression sphere on that armor to be leveled up and increase it's light to 30.
Now any and all legendary armor is now useful.
Obviously there will be some limitations like, it can only be applied to a piece of armor once, cannot be applied to armor that already has a max light cap of 30, etc...
The same concept can be applied to the new raid and dlc coming out. With this I think everyone wins.
Players can use which armor they want but still be required to play the raids.
Problem: Raid Armor,
- Is the only way to reach lvl 30.
- Makes every other armor obsolete.
- Ruins character customization by having everyone be a default lvl 30 character.
Solution:
- Add a random drop for a "raid seal" which can be applied to any legendary armor to increase it's light
Thoughts?

They are adding Iron Banner armor that will get you to lvl 30 now too

I think is a great idea

For the love of Crota fix your title. I agree with raid armor making all gear obsolete, but on the other hand it is rewarding and it is recognizable. we all know who did what, which is exactly what bungie wanted. And exotics aren't useless, at all. They have perks. They have perks on them that raid items simply don't have.

The normal legendary gear can get you to level 29 which is more than enough unless you want to do the raid on hard, in which case level 30 helps out. So in this case you can wear whatever you want unless your doing the hard raid.

this is a hilarious title

I feel like destiny is still in it's alpha stage

I have all raid gear and i will never resort to regular legendary. I like this idea. Another good idea would be that each helmet you dismantle would go to a collection of blueprints than allow you to customise your current helmet. Most of the early game Titan helmets looked the best.

my thoughts are that someone didnt read the weekly update for the 24th

Extoic, nuff said

Agreed I'm tired of not being able to optimize to my weapons because of raid gear. I love the extra heavy ammo and I have all exotics and raid gear for the warlock fully leveled but I would love some more options to not drop below 30.
-
I agree, but some people keep the armor pieces they like and just roll with that and switch over to raid gear for the raid. Personally, I like seeing my level 30 and don't mind what bonuses armor gives.
-
It's hard to conclude that Exotics are worthless in Destiny's two months thus far. I would imagine they have plans to better the Exotics in some fashion. There's also the unique abilities that Exotics have. I don't know about you, but I do enjoy having a quicker revive of my fallen comrades. I would say, give Bungie a bit of time to get their gears in motion so we can see the big picture.

Edited by Andy2Spooky5me: 10/29/2014 3:41:25 PMyou should really try doing some research, because now this entire post you spent time on writing is useless. there's suppose to be some type of new materials that are going to be used to further upgrade exotics, making the light level higher, and the stats better. comes out along with the DLC.

Adding my vote to this!

Get to 29 and dont suck than you can wear whatever you want
-
If u believe this you're a fool. Raid gear makes you play a certain way. No flexibility with stats/armor abilities. I'll take hand cannon mods over my armor any day for everyday activities and pvp

Bumpity bump bump

You do know the next iron banner will have legendary gear that can be leveled to 30 as well. Now you can have your customization just grind iron banner when it comes out again and you can have two sets for 30.

NIce idea.. :)

I couldn't agree more. I had a legendary chest piece that I loved but once I got the raid piece I had no choice but to replace it. Then I got exotic shoulders that I loved...same thing. The whole idea of designing your character around a certain play style or look is complete BS and impossible if you want to max out your character.
-
Actually not a bad idea, I do think that could be a good solution, sadly Bungie will not listen to this.
-
Sadly they will say 'this wasn't the way the game was meant to be played'
-
Sounds smart ... Bungie wasn't smart enough to add this apparently
