Ok so everyone feels this way, what's the point of a weapon being "exotic" if they're sold every other weekend by this tool of the nine? The very meaning of exotic is, and I quote "of a kind not used for ordinary purposes or not ordinarily encountered." NOT ORDINARILY ENCOUNTERED!!! They aren't "exotic if everyone encounters them! So here is my suggestion. With every public event, have a new exotic weapon and armor piece. There is a limited amount of time to earn enough reputation with that specific event, to earn yourself a true exotic item. Once the event is over, that's it! It's over, now everyone who toiled and ground out that event to get the exotic, truly has something to be envied. Something that few have earned, and nobody ever will again. THAT IS EXOTIC, THAT IS WHAT WE WANT.
Which brings me to my closing topic. Now everyone on the Destiny team is thinking. Well the people who don't have much time to play are shit out of luck. If it were me I'd say, "yea, to bad." However it's not me, and if you think everyone who badly plays will be sore about it. Implement a "pokemon" style trading system within the tower. This way people can have the oppritunity to trade for an exotic they missed out on. END RANT: EAT MY SHORTS XÜR
Shout out to DirtyRed! He came up with the basic idea.

Just as long as he doesn't sell hawkmoon...everyone with hawkmoon would make PvP annoying as hell.
-
My thoughts exactly! If you like my idea, help me get traction on this! :)
-
ive said since launch that xur would ruin exotics. when ever they sell last word or plan c multiplayer will be entirely ruined.

Earned??? Loot is randomly generated. Nobody earned it. Nobody is unique either. If I have a gun I'm sure other people have it also.
-
I've had two truths before xur sold it Bottom line get over it
-
This is hilarious. People doing weekly strikes earn their strange coins way more than a random rng drop in the game. That's just dumb luck and could happen to anyone at any time. Without xur gear wouldn't be a function of persistent skill but rather dumb luck. I do support you 100% on event specific gear. Like you know the Queen's wrath armour.
-
Not everyone feels that way. I personally feel like since everything is RNG you don't earn anything you are given. It's pure luck. If anything doing the weekly on the hardest difficulty to save up enough coins to buy something from Xūr is more 'earning it' than anything else in this game. Exotic doesn't mean rare it just means different. If they take away Xūr then what is the point of the weeklys? What is the point of coins or even the motes? nothing! You're asking them to change the whole game because you want to feel special. Quit crying. They're are plenty of actual bugs and servers that need fixing before you bitch about stupid shit.
-
We aren't using the literal definition of exotic here. It is simply an echelon marker. Rare is a step below legendary which is a step below exotic. It has nothing to do with actual availability of said item, in this case. Plus if there was an in game economy like there's supposed to -blam!-ing be with RNG Xur wouldn't exist and exotics would in fact be quite scare in the world.
-
I'm so special, oh so very special and no ones going to be as special as meeeeeeee.
-
Thank you your tears where delicious \_/
-
So you found that suros regime?
-
Daw poor you.,.
-
I think xur should have his own set of stuff to sell, not the RNG exotics, but instead either special xur exotics or xur legendaries
-
You have a typo. Should read "THAT IS EXOTIC, THAT IS WHAT *I* WANT" You're welcome
-
mom, everyone has the same gun and armor as me!!!!!!!
-
First off, their is no "earning" anything with RNG in place when it comes to drops. The only earning concept in the game is getting strange coins for weekly strikes. That being a fact you didn't earn your exotic, you got lucky. I earned my coins and bought something with them...get over it.
-
I mean I have a shot ton of play time. Like 8 days or so. And I never once found a price of exotic armor. So without xur I would of never had exotic armor. I also have never found an exotic from the raid or nightfall(minus vex mytho). Your people bitching about xur are a self entitled cancer.
-
Boy, this is a computer game. Nothing is 'exotic' in a game for millions of players. There is not much content in this game that is only for you. :D
-
You really have no concept of how minuscule the hardcore gamer community is compared to the casual gamer base do you? The whole 'well if they can't spend 60 hours a week grinding before this disappears forever' concept, would alienate their source of income, the casual gamer. If you want a game that will. It receive a further iteration that builds on the next, or is unable to afford support and updates due to a lack of sales, due at least I part to the 'screw the gamer in their late 20's with a family and full time job' go for it. Most development houses will not waste their resources on such an endeavor. Xur is not going anywhere, ever. The sooner you come to terms with that, the better.
-
Xurs sold an exotic I've gotten via RNG every week besides red death. I have no sympathy for anyone who has one exotic they have being sold. Besides the fact xur doesn't sell all exotics. We've roughly seen his entire stock with maybe thunderlord being the only one he may even be able to sell
-
I don't care how anyone gets them. Whatever makes my group stronger is a good thing.
-
Welcome to the world of MMOs. You want a better laugh then look at the blue drops. They are labeled "rare" yet I get a dozen in an hour. Rare in MMOs is the most common rubbish there is so why should exotics be any different?
-
It would be one thing if he sold bounty exotics which I actually worked for. But he doesn't, he only sells rng drops. I don't see why the person who gets a lucky roll deserves an exotic any more than one who grinds content and spends their coins on them. I know people want to feel special, but too bad, welcome to life. You're pretty much never going to be the only one with a particular thing. And why do you care what weapons other people use?
-
I say that this everyweek: xur is the fix to a bad loot system.

Edited by Exa1t3dOn3: 11/9/2014 8:25:47 PMSo I should be mad that you got an exotic that I already had two of? Both of which just sit in the vault... Yawn Should I also be upset that I'm only missing 3 exotic things and I have them all? Yawn
