The only reason to be 30 is to make the raid on 30 a bit easier. Just hang on to the gear you like and run around with that and be lvl29.
It would be nice to be able to change it or have it be random attributes each drop but it's not really needed in my opinion.

Its ok for now but when the level 32 hive raid comes out level 29 isn't really gonna cut it.

Yeah, hopefully that raid drops randomized gear.
