Destiny came and all of a sudden everyones "Pro". (A note on playerbase and the VoG)
Yesterday I played through the Vault of Glass fully for the first time.
It was great to see the beautiful design of it, but the problem was the people I was with.
For starters, it was a bunch of younger dudes who have a mouth on them xD
This guy was so proud to tell us how his lvl 30 has done the raid 100 times and that his own vault is filled with Legendaries and Exotics.
At first I was impressed, but once we got to the Templar... everything changed.
This was no longer the raid I played the first time, and died multiple times trying to do it legit.
No.
Instead, we had this lvl 30 telling me that "Hunter's are useless in the VoG". To which I asked why (considering we had a lvl 29 Hunter with us and I myself play as a Hunter), and he merely responded because they are.
Now it was only when we got to the Templar that I realised why I wasn't enjoying this.
The players were more concerned with glitching the Templar and Atheon, pushing them off the edge with their EPIC WARLOCK GRENADES, while me and another player sat in a corner, feeling goddamn useless. It sucked.
The whole point of a raid is to come together as a team and devise strategies to defeat the obstacles in front of you. I hardly felt like I even did anything in the raid, as these guys carried on talking about their "Amazing skills at pushing Atheon".
So, I sat in Atheons lair, literally hiding behind a -blam!-ing pillar while this dude compalined that Atheon was not going in the right spot.
I hadn't even shot a single shot at him, I hardly even knew what I was doing because this group were so focused on glitching him out.
I'm now on the Hard mode of the raid, but I don't dare go for it with another bunch of randoms for fear of sitting in a corner once more, listening to try hards as they talk about their 1000000 Exotics and Legendaries.
In conclusion, people are more concerned with glitching a raid and gaining loot, than actually finishing it legit.
[b]What is the point of glitching to get gear, when the gear is used for the Raid anyway? If you want play a dress up sim, go ahead and google a shitty flash game.[/b]

3 RepliesI feel you on this. People are so concerned with knocking the bosses off the edge. It's why I'm putting off raiding until I can get a One and raid with my friends. Doing the fight legit is a lot more fun than pushing Atheon and the Templar. The people that are adamant about doing it and start applying a eugenics-esque philosophy to VoG runs are the same kids who complain about Xur and how they "earned" their exotics

Haven't done the raid.(can't dedicate a set time to play) But it does look beautiful on twitch when streamed. This game and cod seem to bring in the "I'm the greatest" type player.[spoiler]sometimes makes me long for off line games[/spoiler]

It's true it's much more fun to beat it legit, who wouldn't enjoy throwing 10 supers in a row at atheon or spamming grendades

I've had the exact opposite experience myself. I moved from Xbox to ps4 because the idea of the kinect sickened me. Any who not knowing anybody I asked for assistance on these very forums. The raid group we've got is awesome. All these random people are respectful and know what they're doing. That being said there was this one younger fella who kept telling us he found the perfect song for the raid over and over, which wasn't so much annoying as it was funny. Good people are out there it's just hit and miss like most things in life.

5 RepliesI guess those 5 year old try hards have no interaction with any electronics outside of this game or they would've known Bungie patched the Atheon glitch. I hate it when little kids play video games and think they are the only ones who are any good at the game. BRATS! Sorry your first vault run was poor, try making a post on here asking for a certain age, that way you can avoid squeakers who lie about being in Faze. Losers. I haven't even been in the Vault yet, I can't find anyone to play with from the beginning on normal or the time to play. Good thing there's checkpoints.

I usually have the highest mobs kill on raids.You can do the same thing and tell him "you can talk less and kill more". He is not better player for have a grenade.

I had a very similar experience yesterday; managed to find 6 people (all Xbox friends) to take the raid on. Unfortunately 2 of them had already completed it several times so I ended up crouching in a corner with 4 other people while those 2 glitched the last boss. Not what I had in mind, I have no problem with people taking advantage of what I am sure will be fixed fairly soon. But it's not why I play the game. Would like to give mad props to the level designers, the parts we did properly were challenging and enjoyable.

5 RepliesI'm a warlock, and yes hunters are useless- that is, if you want to cheat and push the bosses off the map. Now, if we are actually playing fair, hunters are very useful. I can't wait until the hot patch is added. I want to play the raid with a fire team that uses strategy, not exploits. When I played the raid with my hunter, I felt the same way. I want to be useful in the raid as well. Which hunters are useful if your doin it the fair way. Clearing up adds? - hunter Getting past Gorgons?- hunter I even felt that the gate keeper part was easier as a hunter than it was for my lock. If it wasn't for self reviving, I'd probably Switch to a hunter. TL;DR- hunters are only useless this week, next week after the patch, we'll be useful again. I feel your pain man.

I did the Raid legit last night with two IRL friends and a bevy of randoms. Aside from one of my friends going AFK and two 3 randoms leaving causing us to look for more, it was really fun. Especially when we got our strategy going. Shame they are going to make the timestream random. That's such a dumb move.

They should patch it quick, I 100% agree that they only want to glitch it ans don't know how else to beat/enjoy the game

I understand you completely, I try to avoid cheating the game as much as possible, I've only resorted to pushing bosses off the map when we've tried to kill it and gotten nowhere in the past 3 hours (ie hard mode Atheon)
