Because, what most players do to complete a bounty is kill what is needed and leave right after it says "Bounty Completed" Destiny System has a auto save from last check point. So if you dont complete the "mission" that the system thought you wanted, it sends you back to where you last left off. Right at the stairs leading up to the green sky. Thus meaning complete every mission when you complete a bounty or change to a higher difficulty.

That's what I was thinking, although I felt I had completed it the week before. Any idea if they also reset on Tuesday like the raid, etc?

It does not reset. Saved at "we've woken the hive" for 3 weeks.
