The Multi-Million Dollar Question: PvE vs. PvP

PvE

PvP

Please just take a minute or less of your time to participate. What is more important to you in destiny? 50/50 there are no wrong answers here! Update 11/13/14 3:20EST: Over 8,000 community members have taken part in this poll and here are the results so far! PvE: 8428 PvP: 1174 Personally I am a big fan of PvP, but like many others I bought this game for the 'epic' storytelling and co op PvE it was advertised for. Knowing Bungie I expected a lot more from PvP in this game and currently it's just not a go to for competitive multiplayer, but I hope to see improvement in the future. I understand that many people on these forums are PvE players but there seems to be overwhelming demand for new PvE content and I hope to see a weekly update detailing the future of PvE sometime soon so we can all grind happily knowing it will pay off. To those of you who wanted to know where the 'both' option was I intended this to be a black and white question with no neutral answer, that's why the question stated what's most important. If you didn't vote that's okay 8,000 other people did. This was my first post on these forums and i am very satisfied with the response, as a community we all need to keep up the constructive feedback on our ends and help the devs create a masterpiece!

  • So remind me again how CoD kids are ruining this game? CoD is heavily PvP, yet we only see a huge difference in the PvE.

  • PvE for me, which is strange as I played Titanfall for months and usually purchase COD purely for the PvP. I think the RNG system in PvP stops it from grabbing my attention, I like playing towards a goal such as titles, camos only unlocked from playing well etc. which is currently impossible as a friend can play one or two games and have the best items awarded to him. As far as I can see there is nothing to work for in PvP in Destiny, no titles, no badges of honor, no shaders that distinguish you from anyone else which I think takes something away from the experience. It's most likely the reason I stick to PvE as I can aim for something that not everyone has. In this case, raid gear.

    • This is news to people? Carebears have outnumbered PvPers since the beginning of multiplayer gaming. There's good reason why EverQuest absolutely crushed Ultima Online, despite UO being the better game. EverQuest was designed from the ground up to be a fully PvE experience.

Came for the pve, stayed for the pvp. Pve lacks content and i want bungie to focus on it but right now i do the day and weekly stuff, then i focus on pvp. Somehow i doubt that only 12% do this, especially compared to the mythoclast nerf whine.. Bottom line pve needs some serious overhaul.. Edit:spelling

      • Honestly this competition and back and forth between "Pvpers" and "PVEers" is obnoxious and not helpful to the game. It has both. Both halves are integral to the game. Both halves need to be improved. 'Lobbying' for one side to be focused on rather than the other is not helpful. If you play a lot of PVP then offer feedback on things you notice about it that don't work. If you play PVE then do the same for what you know. Many people play both sides (which I think is most enjoyable and keeps my interest longest) and want to see ALL aspects of the game improved. I don't understand why it has become one or the other. It's like some kind of immature video game politics.

          • A s I've said in other posts, I know I suck at PvP. It has been proven to me in games from vanilla WoW through CoD MW2. It's the biggest reason I have a combined total of 0 crucible events over three toons. The only reason I will step foot in the crucible will be for my exotic weapon bounties, and I fully expect to be working on them forever.

          • For bungie it was obviously PvE, Pvp is fun but to me feels like an afterthought

I wonder? If the Crucible was a competitive arena with more playlists and better structure, would that large landslide of votes be not as steep. I bought the game for the Crucible. I did this due to being a fan of the halo series and its multiplayer. The story side to this game came as a bonus to me, maybe that's why I am not too miffed at it lacking in some areas. I think both sides will improve with age and updates, I'm just glad Bungie has the crucible, otherwise I would have stopped playing this game weeks ago. From my point of view, I play the strikes and raids to level up for the crucible and I play the story missions and patrol for fun and adventure.

          • I love both. There is the ability to change it up whenever you want, seamlessly. I get tired of PvE, I can go play some PvP. Vice versa.

          • Interesting results, or at least interesting updates from Bungie who knew the answer to this question before it was asked.

          • The game is well balanced. PVE for those who like the story, the raids, and the fun you have when you fight something that ultimately doesn't take much skill to destroy. The PVP is great for those who want to kill people and let them know about it with a nice, sportsmanlike tea-bagging. Everyone wins, and the makers of this game knew it would gain interest from a vast group.

            • PvP wins hands down. For someone who likes a challenge and continually gets disappointed from the repetitive PvE mobs, PvP gives me a place to go where I can actually put my FPS skills to the test. Those knocking PvP all I can say to you is "Get Good"

              • I've lost my love of multiplayer altogether,i used to play MP the majority of the time, but since CoD , BF and many other the quality of the experience on most MP FPS as gone from bad to worst, lack of teamwork and/or objective play, camping, glicthers and even absence of civility is the norm today .It seems no one plays for fun and an experience.Hell i remember a day where gamers was more united, when everyone use to say GG,when going online meant you'd find new e-buddy that shared the same love of games. Now all i seem to see is players just feeding there ego with there FN K/D ,doing there own thing, trolling other players ect, ect, ect. So yeah i bought this game for its PvE not its PvP hell i haven't even touched the crucible.

              • I wasn't eagerly anticipating the release of this game for PvP, but it does offer a change of pace every now and then. Plus, crucible marks are useful.

              • Said this the last time there was a poll like this, and it's still true. Polling the forums is NOT, in any way, shape, or form, a way to get accurate information about players or the game as a whole.

                • Even though I'm a PvP guy, I still think this game should more focused on PvE. Until they fix/change the RNG, PvP is broken IMHO.

                • PvP has no real match making system or rating at all. As of right now, if you rely on your stats on destiny tracker it's going to be based off of wins which you can prevent losses by just leaving games when you know you are losing. If you want to have a high chance of winning games consistently just make a fireteam of 6 people for clash or control and win every single game. You can't move up in higher ranks solo in clash or control. It's impossible to win games when you have a potential 5 others just feeding and dying constantly. You also have to PvP everyday in order for your rankings to stay current and up to date on destinytracker. PvP should be taken as a fun mode and not at a competitive level since it isn't even structured for it at all. PvE lacks content because it will always lack content.
