Deej: The truth, critical thinking, and final argument.

I have watched this video in its entirety. I realize it is long, but unlike pro Destiny/Activision rhetoric, the truth is a little more complex, and you not taking the time to understand what is going on is what they are counting on. What we have here is the ultimate anti-fanboi argument. Contained in this video is every thing we critical thinkers have been trying to express, only to be freight trained by the deluded masses. The masses: those of us who have successfully been indoctrinated by the Lord of Profiteering: Activision. Why do people persist in defending what has taken place here? It could simply be lack of intelligence or the ability to critically think, but more likely it is pride: The fanboi ego cannot admit to the truths in this video, it has gone too far for him, in his mind there is no way back. Humility is not a word in his vernacular. In a world where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, we are brainwashed via corporately owned news outlets (see: Fox News, any Murdoch newspaper) to blame each other for the situation instead of looking at those in power, those with the wealth controlling every thing. Profit is increasingly becoming a dirty word. Or at least it should be. To all the nay sayers, i give you this: You have been conditioned to disagree with the rhetoric you see here. They have achieved this because they are smarter than you. Swallow your pride and open your mind. It is time to become a critical thinker, not just a consumer, with 2D personality. For a better understanding of how corporations have become so powerful Government cannot control them, and how they are shafting us in every market we participate in, i recommend a Youtube channel called "The Trews" by a critical thinker called Russel Brand (previously a comedian). Profit has now fully infected the games market, that is why $500 million buys us a gutted husk of a game such as Destiny, Watchdogs, Titanfall and others. To Deej i say (as he is apparently reading all this): please let your bosses know that we know what occurred here. EDIT 1: To those saying i jumped on some sort of bandwagon with this video, here i link my previous thread, some weeks old, in which i make a weak effort in tackling this subject: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71096924/0/0 EDIT 2: It's a tough challenge, trying to protect people who fight to defend the system hurting them. EDIT 3: All big business is owned by the 1%. And thusly they don't care where you spend your money, as long as you do. The power of consumer choice is a lie. Pick up your Destiny box and read the back, it literally says "rich cinematic story telling". Can you see the problem there? EDIT 4: Best insult received: "Also, I find your username hilariously perfect. Do you refer to your house as "The Superiority Complex"?" lel Final Edit: I have just read the details of The Dark Below, and it will not fix the inherent failures of this game. They are pushing forward with this hacked up iteration of Destiny. They sold us one game, delivered another, and for better or for worse this is it now. It is a game aimed at the 12yr olds, the CoD generation, and I am out. I will boost friends in the raid only until I can trade this in for GTA V. See you Manhattan-side for The Divison, Guardians!

  • I agreed with 99% of the video, I just have no will to play the game and each day that goes by I lose my interest in the release of my already paid for content. I think Bungie took itself from an AAA developer and dropped themselves down to a C developer in one quick swoop. This is also my first Bungie game, likely my last unless I see a radical shift and repair of the damage done.

It's crazy the amount of sheep there are. I have a hard time playing Destiny when I think about the potential it had before release. It could have been so much better, yet you sheep are perfectly content with having a mediocre game to play. Is it so wrong to want something better? Especially when we were told it would be better, told it was going to be something is now clearly isn't. There are other games, but this game was supposed to be the best. Imagine if every other developer and publisher decide to follow in Bungie's and Activision's footsteps.

    • Just leave why try to act like a know it all. Just stop playing you ruin the fun of games if all you do is critique them. This can be done with anything on the planet. Driving needs fixing because not everyone has the same car, goes the same speed, there are a ton of accidents. If we all walk no more car accidents. Fast food cost to much, isn't healthy, not always good, etc. Basketball is bad because the teams are too big, crowds are to loud, there are no reruns. You see its not hard to be overly negative. Its just a way to ruin other people's fun. If you don't like it don't try to change their mind simply don't do it. So thanks for coming here just to complain in an attempt to rain on everyone's parade. I'm sure it was worth it.

      • I feel like you're right but too preachy, I feel like Activision bankrolled the project so they have the final say. They wanted Destiny to be what it is now, a gutted profit sponge. Some ppl at Bungie wanted this game to be everything they promised abs more, like Joe Staten their lead writer who mysteriously left the company after over 15 years with halo. Why would the man who created the rich cinematic part want it to never be seen? He wouldn't is he answer. So he left, because he created something amazing and Activision took a shit on it for more money....... DeeJ s am I right or am I right?

What I find absolute hilarious is this is all to point out ALL of the errors with this game.... But you have over 8 hrs in game play and 3 characters. That is not what to do. If you have a big enough problem with the game that you can do all of this. Please. Stop playing. I like the game. I'm going to play it. If you don't like it or see a fundamental flaw in business procedures STOP PLAYING!!! The only way to hurt a company is through their pocket books. Shut up. Trade it in. Get your money back on the DLC. Yes give constructive criticism, please do. That's how you make things better. Not by setting here calling yourself A "critical" thinker! Like Burnie Burns said All of these millions of people complaining about a game that they pick up and play everyday for hours. YOU, ARE what you are b****ing about! STOP! Leave, please!

            • Not only do you not understand how an economy works, you have no idea how much power the consumer has in one. Modern liberalism mixed with Keynesianism and political power is a very dangerous thing. Your representatives are trying to turn the economy into a political issue simply for the support of the gullible.

              • While I understand your points of view on this video - I don't agree fully with it or you. Here is why: Bungie has the right to change their minds unless implicitly promising something - nothing vague like this video shows. Bungie has the right to hold off on material and sell it as add ons as long as the paying public chooses to do so. If you don't - that is fair and you don't have to since nobody has a pulse rifle to your head - lol. I greatly enjoy playing this game especially with others. The problem I have with Destiny is this: Strategy is hardly acknowledged as a part of it. The game is mostly first one that gets there gets to kill more enemies and that is it unless you are in Crucible which is just kill each other with the only strategy being staying with your team and or knowing the the maps well. Oh and having the best weapons and armor. Here is what should be done in my opinion: Crucible is easy - just have Crucible weapons available to all disallowing any other weapons or armor from inventory to be used. Only Crucible armor and weapons can be used and the user chooses from type only i.e. pulse, hand cannon, etc. For PVE - award big point for not being seen by the enemy and for not being hit by the enemy. Give more points or bounties for staying alive for the whole mission or strike. Don't take away areas of cover and high ground no matter the hardness level giving teams a chance to work out strategies. This helps to train teams to work together and would make them more awesome in Raids. It is my understanding that what Bungie wants is for all players to get to VOG levels and to be good in it so it can challenge them to make it even harder. Maybe I am wrong on that last as this video makes them out to be evil incarnate - but what do I know? But what I absolutely know is that the way we fight against an enemy that has conquered us even with the help of a superior race of beings - is ludicrous. We would be slaughtered in seconds fighting this little boy way of fighting. We need to train all those 10 year olds to 18 year olds how to fight a real war. Hunting is being silent. Fighting war on the ground is getting the high ground and staying covered and picking the enemies off from as great a distance as possible before cleaning up. If we were rewarded for this strategy and punished for fighting a sloppy fight - we would have the winner of all winners in FPS. Just my humble opinions here folks.

                • Well the argument of corporate greed ruining a consumers experience is worn and tested as a simple explanation which is at it's root flawed. Greed is viewed as a negative, is it? Does framing a company as greed deem said company as evil? I believe a company's goal is profit, profit for the controlling parties ie shareholders or owners. Bungie pursues profit as means to stay in business. The greed you reference is the reason a small independent company grew from a couple guys in a water logged office basement to a successful gaming company of the modern day. Which employees a vast amount of happy driven people. Bungie put out a less them standard product in Destiny. The market has a way of rooting companies that continue to underproduced. Bungie will correct their flaws or suffer the fate of many other gaming studios. Our money will speak for us. If enough people are not satisfied with the product they will move on. Sales drop and action is taken. This process is not fast often but it still happens. I applaud your ambition in showing the flaws but your rational for those issues is subjective and flawed. Greed is not the root of all evil nor does money corrupt the soul or character of an individual. Money can expose the flawed nature of an individual. However greed is the driving force in nearly every human ambition. These ambitions brought you the modern world in which you live. Rant over!

                  • anyone who believes that Russell Brand is a critical thinker is beyond stupidity. This is the ex-junkie / alcholic / comedian (i find this the most ridiculous because of how unfunny he was...) and he has openly said that anarchy would be a good thing... for everyone to try and dispand the UK's parliment and US goverment. I 'm not saying they are smooth running and evryone gets what they want; but seriously...imagine what YOUR life would be like if anarchy reigned supreme... thats right; nothing but crime. so as i started this comment, any one who thinks he is a critical thinker is as big an egotist and even more ridiculous and stupid.

Look at AC- No Good side bad side, just positive and negative ways about getting to the same conclusion. Templars- Indoctrination/brainwashing Assassins-free will People believe that if they cant see something, then it doesnt exist...**cough** X-rays, gamma rays, infrared, ultraviolet. there is an entire spectrum to the universe that we are blind to. :) You dont have an open mind for this kinda stuff then Destiny, the souls series, an a few other great games are lost to you. Its easy to see only the good, and only the bad, trying to find both in everything will help you decide what you REALLY want.

                      • The guy started off making sense with facts. Then he showed that he is a master of hyperbole. Bottom line: play the dang game if you like it. Play something else if you don't. Whatever truth there is about the problems in creating Destiny won't be coming out until Bungie tells it, and that won't happen until it is "legally" or "contractually" safe for them to do so without reprisal from Activision. Until then I still expect them to blow my mind by going over the top for this community as they always have, even if they have to figure out how to work within the system they find themselves in to do so. (if they did it under M$, I have no doubt they can do it under Activision). My $.02 that you didn't ask for...

                          • "... these questions are legitimate and shared widely among the community. (and) Until we have had answers, we should assume the worse, because that is what silence implies."- from above linked clip There is so much truth here. Yes there is a lot of speculation, however none of it is a leap in logic.

Okay I'm gonna paraphrase Louis CK here: they’re both making a classic mistake on this. Because the haters are saying ‘This is how I feel about this.’ But they’re also saying ‘My feelings should be everyone’s primary concern.’ But the fanboys are making this mistake, they’re saying ‘Your feelings don’t matter. Your feelings are wrong, and your feelings are stupid.’…To the fanboys I say, ‘Listen. Listen to what the haters are saying for a minute.’ And to the haters I say ‘Now that we heard you, now shut the -blam!- up for a minute.

                                • Yea, my ability to defend this game has gone. What's the potential behind a boycott of playing and all of the community bands together to stop playing and force bungies hand because inevitably everyone sits on the forums and complains, then jumps online and plays for 4 hours. This tactic will not change a thing. At what point to stop playing and say piss off bungie? Thanks for the video. We are a community of educated individuals that are being forced to play at a 5th grade reading level. Is there an adult version coming out in December? I can't wait for that release!

Borrow a friends copy or play at his house. Watch a stream. Just don't drop money. Already stopped playing (played once in 2 weeks) and won't buy the dlc. I reccomend you find out just how little will be in the dlc before you buy.
