Cause its weird. A normal guy doesn't choose a female character. Those that do are way to into the fantasy of it all or dont care about anything in their lives.

I found another one! Hey there little monkey, i know your intelligence is far less then average, but we'll take guuuud care of you at the zoo.

Really? Dude it is a game. So my character is Awoken, I have a fantasy about blue people and don't care about myself??? Let everyone play the way they want. Who cares, do we really need something else to complain about on these forums? Now I can go home and paint my body blue as I play Destiny!

A normal guy may choose a girl cause is nicer to see a female body (when on 3rd person) rather than see a man....

Edited by Zalrohg: 10/23/2014 11:09:30 AMI play as a female character every chance I get. It's so rare because of the overflowing amount of male antagonists that the time I get to switch I'm dying to see the difference. A good example is that the voice actress for Nobel 6 delivered the lines better, same for fem shep in mass effect. It's fun!

Shit. In my latest playthrough of Diablo 2 I picked the Sorceress. I also played the new tomb raider last year. Am I some sort of wierdo?

In my opinion, the male version of the Awoken and Human races don't look good. Hence, I ended up making females. Although, I did make a male Exo because I think they look better than their female counterpart.

I think all the comments have been valid thus far. I guess when I see the Character creation screen, I see it as make it your avatar. Meaning, make it resemble you and your personality. So when I see males using female chars it makes me wonder about there mindset. If your wife or girlfriend makes your character and thats your way of including her into the game that's fine i get that. However a guy making that decision on his own I find a bit odd.

For me its all about making the Character resemble me. Not some fantasy I want to live out as another person. I never understood that whole concept. Whatever makes you happy I guess. Maybe Im weird.
-
You've got 3 characters. Do you make 3 characters that all look the same?
-
They're all male.

Fair enough. But it is a game; it is all fantasy to begin with. It gives you the chance to be/play as anything you want.

And you want to be a girl? This doesn't irk me in the way it does some people, but I do find it quite a curiosity. Okay, so they make them hot, but it's still just a graphic. It's kind of a misrepresentation. People see a girl in the game world that can hold their own and they think "man, maybe this isn't just a sausage fest after all!" Only to get in a party with said girl and end up talking to Tom Waits. As a very alpha old school manly man myself (beer, beef, football, engines, etc) I just don't understand the nature of wanting to portray yourself as a skinny defenseless looking woman if you really aren't one. This is of course not getting into the fact that women don't play games because they aren't good at them. Not sexist, scientific fact. Men process spatial relationships better and therefore have a much easier time rendering a 3D world in their mind which they can fluently navigate with seamless two stick movement. Of course there are exceptions which make the rule, but you get my point. My curiosity on this matter is honest and legitimate. Why portray yourself as something you aren't, and, if it's all just a fantasy anyway as you say, then why do you want so badly to be a girl? Input?

And the other reason being that I let my fiancé make my female hunter character. She agreed that the male counterparts did not look appealing. My little cousin made my female warlock. I made the male Exo Titan.
-
It's not so badly that I want to be a girl, it's just that the character looks better as a girl than a male in my opinion. I am not trying to live my life as the character that I am playing. It is just simply that, a character. I'm not trying to portray anything, not trying to be anything. Just simply playing a character in a game that looks better in my opinion. That is all.

Also most games have a burly white dude for a protagonist so it's good to see that we can change it to a minority of games that have a female protagonist
