2 RepliesYou're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist, except through the distorting lense of the feedback forums. What else are people going to spend their strange coins on? I earn them through weekly strikes, which are by their very definition heroic. Am i therefore not doing it right? Even though i find it charming that you've appointed yourself the barometer by which we set our gear earning potential by, i suggest you ask yourself whether it actually makes a difference to your enjoyment of the game if i buy a sniper rifle from xur? Or maybe you should just be thankful that if we are ever on the same fireteam that i've got the firepower to back you up.....

There seems to be a misunderstanding that you get some kind of "Street Cred" by having an unusual exotic. The fact is people are not going to think you are a badass, they will just think that you are a lucky bastard. You are not that special, and being lucky with a random drop is not praiseworthy. It could very well be that there was a lot more hard work put into those strange coins than in getting a lucky drop.

1 ReplyLet's be honest... Nobody cares where anyone got their exotic nor how they obtained it at this point. All that anyone cares about is being able to get one for themselves. You're story with Red Death is great but honestly who do you think is going to be asking "hey where'd you get your Red Death from?"... Exactly, no one will. I'm glad Xur sells exotics for coins otherwise I'd have friends still without an exotic of any kind who have spent similar amounts of time on this game as I have, and to say they haven't earns there's is absolute BS!

Epic story for your loot was marketing cheese that didn't last past launch day. Despite the excitingly labeled gear quality tiers, Bungie doesn't actually want them to be excruciatingly difficult or time consuming to acquire. That's what Xur is, if you aren't lucky enough to get something random then he's the mechanic that allows you to earn your yellows. I don't really agree with your proposal, but then I don't really care where or how people get their stuff. I don't even know what people are wearing, if they're pulling their weight in the fireteam is all that matters to me. If someone asked me where I got something I can't even remember where my junk came from unless it was from Xur. I'm amazed all the flak he gets, he's available for a limited time and offers random items, when there are like 7 "legendary" vending machines that sit in the tower full time. They serve the same purpose as Xur for purples.
