Im 29 turning 30 in Feb and I feel like im too old to be playing, I have a wife and 2 kids in which I spend quality time with and work 6-7 days a week usually.
I play Destiny whenever I find the time to do so but lately I keep getting invited to do VOG (I still havent done it yet) and the other 5 fire team peeps are like screaming 12-13 year olds and that is also the reason I refuse to use a mic.
Tbh, I feel embarrassed because these people are young and being the only adult just makes me feel uneasy, like if I used a mic and spoke they will probably give me shit about my age and some of the people wont let me come do VOG unless I use a mic anyways.
It was like when I played mw2 when it came out and the lobbies filled up with screaming trash talking kids and it spread like a cancer so I quit and haven't touched a CoD game since lol. I bought the game to enjoy it,not to listen to kids yell at each other going on about being molested by their dad or gay this and gay that.
I just dont know what to do? I think I might just stay at level 29, any other adults here that feel like they can somewhat relate to this?
[EDIT] So much positive feedback, I was not expecting so many replies and you can believe me when I write that I have read every single comment in this thread and it warms the heart knowing just how many others are just like me.
Thank you so much everybody.
Oh and I noticed a few people asking what console im on, im on the PS4 and I will be sure to check out the mature clans out there that were suggested.

Most randoms I play with are in their 20s or 30s Rarely run into squeakers and when we do they get booted before they have a chance to terrorize the group Guess Xbox just has an older more mature community

Edited by Le_Eve112791: 2/21/2015 4:25:22 AMI'm 23 and my bf is 27 and we both play Destiny, it's unpleasantly addicting to us lol but no you're young and who cares everyone has their way of having fun some play video games on PlayStations and some play poker on a PC, and others play outside like golfing everyone has their own fun hobbies now usually if we get invited or a friend request and He/She sounds young we usually don't even bother because they could get annoying, the youngest person I've played with was a kid he was only 9 and a big time squeaking ass squeaker! Haha, he had to go...
-
Hey there are lots of us o don't play with sweakers either. I'm 33 with 5 kids I mute my mic so others don't have to hear my kids screaming at each other. But there are groups and gaming communities for adults to play with adults.
-
I just did the nightfall with a guy who had a crying baby in the background, I didn't want to say anything so it was really awkward..
-
Average age of the gaming community as a whole is 31 (average age of the Destiny forum trolls seems to be around 12). You're good bro.

I'm 27 married etc no kids yet . Play all the time and I don't run into to many kids actually but I don't go to lfg all that much for raids because I've already met quite a few friends on there so we usually don't end up short handed. Who cares how old you are do what you enjoy it's just a game.

Edited by Mmm Poo: 2/21/2015 4:11:39 AM31, union carpenter. It's how I wind down on weekdays. You've got a wife, kids and you're working full time; those squeakers can be quite a headache. I'd run with you but I'm on Xbox one. You'll find a group on the forums for sure though. keep your light safe guardian!

Hey man I saw this somewhere but it was pretty positive : you're as young as you feel

Edited by Meilf: 2/21/2015 3:59:57 AMAdd me if you want. We're 23-25 yrs. No one is annoying. Like to joke around, talk about lore, and just generally enjoy the time we have away from work and life. You can join our group if you want: Base Planet V or The Musketeers Some of us are into making games, so we have in depth talks about mechanics and shit sometimes.

I'm 34, married, work full time, have 1 2 year old daughter and another due in may, and my mother in law lives with me and I still game a fair amount. I actually dont run in to younger kids too often suprisingly. Seems a lot different than on xbox 360.

I realize how old this post is. Then again old folks take liberties, that's one of our perks.
-
Add me I'll strike/raid/nightfall with you anytime 39 year gamer for life gt same as name

You just need to find a good group and definitely avoid the squeakers...usually the more obnoxious someone is, the less skill they actually have at the game. There are plenty of more mature gamers playing this game, most of the people I raid with are in their 20s or 30s and very chill, sounds like you just need to find a good clan or group, VoG and Crota raids are easy when you have a group that can communicate instead of just talking shit lol.
-
I'm 42 and I don't play with squeakers. Just kick them or leave and find another group. There's way more adults playing this game than squeakers, no reason to be forced to play with them.
-
Good for you man, enjoy life.
-
You're never to old. Do what you enjoy.
-
You know what should be more embarrassing than playing destiny at age 29... Coming to the forums of this embarrassing game and sharing your life story with the people you're embarrassed to play with. Wow...
-
I am older than you and feel that way sometimes. Just enjoy it for what it is and play at your own pace. There will always be haters and dicks. As in life, just avoid them! Light on Guardian!
-
Don't worry about it, so long as it doesn't strain relationships with family. I'm 30 and have been gaming with my same 3 friends since I we were 14. Times are changing. The 'Halo 1 generation' (age 30) is plowing the way of adult gaming. Check out the clan 'dads of destiny' on bungie.net, clan name says it all.

Haha another resurrected post haha
