Im 29 turning 30 in Feb and I feel like im too old to be playing, I have a wife and 2 kids in which I spend quality time with and work 6-7 days a week usually.
I play Destiny whenever I find the time to do so but lately I keep getting invited to do VOG (I still havent done it yet) and the other 5 fire team peeps are like screaming 12-13 year olds and that is also the reason I refuse to use a mic.
Tbh, I feel embarrassed because these people are young and being the only adult just makes me feel uneasy, like if I used a mic and spoke they will probably give me shit about my age and some of the people wont let me come do VOG unless I use a mic anyways.
It was like when I played mw2 when it came out and the lobbies filled up with screaming trash talking kids and it spread like a cancer so I quit and haven't touched a CoD game since lol. I bought the game to enjoy it,not to listen to kids yell at each other going on about being molested by their dad or gay this and gay that.
I just dont know what to do? I think I might just stay at level 29, any other adults here that feel like they can somewhat relate to this?
[EDIT] So much positive feedback, I was not expecting so many replies and you can believe me when I write that I have read every single comment in this thread and it warms the heart knowing just how many others are just like me.
Thank you so much everybody.
Oh and I noticed a few people asking what console im on, im on the PS4 and I will be sure to check out the mature clans out there that were suggested.

Murtaugh, Riggs!!!

45 and all of my clan mates are teenagers. I have a blast. They are mature players, not squeakers. You could always look into Dads of Destiny.
-
Same situation I'm in, except I'll be 30 in June. I'm on ps4 as well
-
I remember working mowing lawns and chipping ice to earn $99.99 to buy the original nintendo
-
Now you know how it feels to be a "squeaker"
-
Dude. I am also 29. Have 3 kids, with another on the way. I do the same as you. I out my family time first. But once I get all my shit done, kids are tucked in. It's game time. Our generation grew up as gamers, with the old NES to this current gen. You are never to old to do something you enjoy!
-
Nah mate, im 39 here and love this still. Tbh my gaming has calmed down in the past few years due to work and the Mrs, but you gotta do what you enjoy doing to pass your spare time. I do feel abit weird playing a strike with kids, but then have played good games with guys in their 20 and 30s too.
-
Only 30? You youngin'!
-
>has full raid gear on 2 characters

I'm turning 21 soon, I can't stand immature people so generally play with mature people - whether they're my age or older doesn't matter. Hell they can be younger. As long as they're mature - that's all that matters. I say find a group of chill, mature people- most likely they have friends that are also like them and just roll with them. I see that this post is months old now but hey! Thought I'd still reply.

I play with tons of adults.

I'm 30, married, and 2 kids. I've met some cool guys through Dads of Destiny. Sometimes I feel like I need to leave gaming behind because of my age and I have so much other stuff going on. But I only play after my kids are in bed and at that point in the day I'm usually done with household chores and other misc tasks. Gaming is fun and I enjoy it. It's cheap compared to other vices so I decide to stay :)
-
38 years old, 6 kids, full-time job. I play, love it and will keep playing as long as I can!
-
Exactly. For that same reason I don't use my Mic :) (it's broken now anyway) ofcourse I'm missing out on alot of things cuz no Mic = no raid, which is just sad. I don't think you even need every player of your party to have a Mic but that's just my opinion. Now about your question, you're not too old for this game and as long you enjoy playing it, it doesn't matter how old you are anyway. If you like the game, keep playing it! Every game has, unfortunately, little kids on it who shouldn't be playing an 18+ game in the first place.
-
37 years old with wife and 2 kids. I love to play destiny. Keeps me young at heart... add me if your looking for older players on ps4 . Psn: bubbabue I'm on most nights afyer work...
-
Come join us at dads of destiny, all chilled and not squeaky lol
-
I feel you, im16 almost 17, and I hate playing with little kids. I never play with em.
-
I feel ya man. I'm turning 30 this aug with my first kid on the way I've been a big gaming nerd since the first halo and original Xbox dropped But for the most part all I do is play by myself cause like you say it's a bunch of screaming cry babies
-
Gaming is a lifestyle if you quit you were never a gamer anyways. I never have issues with kids because I don't play with them, except my own.
-
Just play however you want to.
-
I'm 35 and play more then my 20s. It's just about fun.
-
Im 53 and last night finally did a croata raid start to finish, a first for me to see croata go down, for a moment I thought I was a teenager. lol dont quit because of age. Rage quit cause you camt get yaallerhorn or heavy ammo, that's the mature way to quit, also don't forget to throw your controller.

I'm 33
-
