I would rather the AI be intelligent than random, having counter play being able to think of ways to out smart atheon is the fun of the raid for me, not just shooting down a bullet sponge.

Edited by I Joe Guitar I: 10/21/2014 10:13:41 PMintelligent isnt random? intelligent to me means that both sides use different strategies therefore each experience is different. in humans it wouldnt be considered random but with ai its the closest we will get.

Well Atheon could send players in the time steam based on certain factors, like how much damage they did to him.(keep the hard hitting players out of the fight) or other variables.

im not saying these ideas are wrong, they all seem good to me. i just think that randomness would be cool aswell. most teams that go raiding pretty much know they are gonna win cos theyve done it so many times before. adding randomness into it eliminates that factor & adds that element of doubt, if i was playing a gametype knowing i was going to win every single time id stop playing, it would get boring real quick regardless of the rewards. a good team that figures out vog & just replays it knowing they will win is simply farming the best gear with no risk. no difference than a loot cave if thats the case.

True, maybe having adaptive AI is better than true randomness. Having player being able to master the content isn't a bad thing, as it gives a goal for players to strive towards in terms of skill without having the punishing element that randomness adds. While it does mean players will eventually learn all the tricks of the raid and be able to go into it without doubt. Even the best super meat boy players die from time to time.

exactly but even if they know all the tricks of the raid there is still that doubt because u dont know which tactics the raid will throw at u. you arent going to go in knowing u will win every time. you will have to react to the changes as they happen, thats how a raid is supposed to be. its meant for the elite players, right? whats elite about the way raid is played now? nothing, i spoke to a guy the other day & he,s completed raid 16x since game launch & is a level 30, he says raid is easy & often helps players get the high level gear. raid shouldnt be easy.

I agree, my point being is that the randomness is both punishing for players and a lazy way to make the raid encounter dynamic.
