Your right Destroyer of Lies. Considering the rumours about the original story which painted us as the bad guys (you aware? the aliens call us "the darkness"). And the aliens have been tracking the Traveller across the galaxy to exact revenge for destroying their worlds. The Traveller came to Earth gave us miracles in order to condition us to fight the aliens and protect the Traveller when they finally caught up with the orb. Maybe this is another example highlighting Bungie's rushed story when the original writer left before the game was completed.

Yeah, I agree. The story of a benevolent godlike being bestowing upon us our golden age only to sacrifice itself to protect us from it's past enemy is a little sketchy to me. It sounds more like we are a proxy army if anything. Also a grimore talks about a faction that believes this to be true. They are branded heretics. There's comparisons in the grimore to the entity in the garden and it's statue protectors to the traveler and it's guardians. It was able to act through them much like the traver acts through us. Eerie. Another thing that really caught me is a fallen log in the grimore. A fallen talks about the shadow. It's corrupted and a little broken, but what it says is others refer to darkness that isn't darkness. He can't explain what darkness is, but says what isn't shadow is an ally. The last thing is specifically grimore; darkness 4. I won't go into details on what I got out of it, but if you read it and wish to discuss further post what you think about it.
