You can put engrams into your vault for another character but I'm not sure that the armor engrams would convert to a different class. I've never tried it, too scared.

Yes armor engram's will decrypt according to class.

OH wow that's awesome. I've been wasting my engrams dismantling worthless rare armours when I could have been feeding them to my alts. grr.
