Your post and the ensuing comments touch on a vital problem. For some reason, people seem incapable of liking the game and simultaneously acknowledging its' flaws. I don't get it. While I can feel it looming nearby, I haven't hit the wall 100% yet. It helps that I tend to get lost in randomness while on Patrol. I can't count how many times I have spent an hour farming for mats I didn't need in the slightest just because a buddy and I were in an engaging conversation. Some days I don't feel like playing on my Titan after I do the bounties though, so I created a Hunter and a Warlock. I got enough Hunter gear while playing as a Titan that I jumped from LVL 20 to 25 in seconds on my Hunter and I have Legendary boots for my Warlock (Radiance is actually pretty cool). I don't play the PVP either. I don't mean to pretend that I have inside knowledge or anything, but it seems to me that Bungie was banking on this game's PVP being Halo popular. I'm betting they thought it would pad the lack of content to some degree. Hell, I played over 8000 online matches of Halo 3 and Reach, so I get where they might have gotten that idea. However, it doesn't do it for me. While it can have moments of fun, the netcode in this game is hands down, no contest, the absolute WORST I have ever seen. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. This makes Battlefield 4's worst day look like like sunshine and rainbows. I'm sure someone will blame my internet connection, but I have done everything in my power to troubleshoot and I do not have this issue with any other real time application. I posted a detailed thread about it in #Help with test results to many different US servers measuring both bandwidth and line quality but no employee ever responded in any way. It helps that my girlfriend, her son, and my best friend all play this game with me and are all at varying levels of progression. That helps me not feel like the game is becoming stagnant. It was exciting to level characters again and I feel like I will be able to give unbiased feedback on other classes now that I will have experienced them firsthand. After all, it's hard to be objective when you just got insta-killed by a Bladedancer for the 15th time that day. I have never questioned the game design decisions that a developer made so many times on a title before. To be clear, I really do like the gameplay in this game. Thing is though, there is almost nothing in the game that I wouldn't have done a good bit differently. You can't do anything with ships? Why are we stuck wearing one set of armor if we want to be LVL 30? I can't change my armor or gun colors to my liking outside of predetermined sets? Eva Lavonte doesn't ever get new shaders? They sell Exotics once a week for currency that is easily obtained, thereby breaking the rarity of said loot? No progression of any kind in the PVP? No skill based matchmaking? Why no Ghost shells? I could go on, but I won't. I will likely get called an entitled whiner for most of this. I just don't get what Bungie was thinking. I do like the gameplay. That's why I'm still playing it. Right now, the fact that I love my Titan and I still want to try out some of the Exotics are what is keeping me going. That will not carry the game forever though. The game needs an infusion of complexity and content.

  • I can see your point of view except when it comes to Xur and exotics. When I looked at the vidocs there was a reoccurring word that kept coming up when they talked about exotics and other gear, and that word was quality. I honesty believe that the common, uncommon, rare, legendary, exotic is a quality grading system. Not a rarity grading system. No by no means am I saying "you are wrong" I'm simply trying to express my view in hopes that it might elevate some of the issues about Xur.

I guess my problem with Xur is that I don't feel like I have accomplished anything when I see everyone running around with the same things I have. There is no uniqueness to my character if everyone is running around with the Armamentarium or the Suros Regime or the Icebreaker. There is no story to tell. I bought it and so did they. I have actually stopped using Xur for anything but armor. I take no pleasure in buying Exotic guns. I'd rather get them through RNG. It's far more exciting that way. I'm not saying that people who buy the items aren't earning them or anything, I just wish they would have designed the game in such a way that Xur wasn't needed. They should've just put in an Exotic pity timer. If you hadn't gotten an Exotic, post level 20, for more than 3 weeks (could be different number, just using 3 to illustrate a point), then your chances of receiving an Exotic go up until you get one. They did that with Diablo 3 and it works quite well.

  • I think the problem is with Xur that he is somehow necessary in the first place. A friend of mine did literally get no legendary or exotic drop despite him beeing level 26+ and having played a lot of hours. This means his first heroic story of a gun was bought at Xur. This is exactly the problem. People shouldnt have to rely on Xur in the first place! The drop rate should be adjusted in a way that if you put that much time in it you will be guaranteed an exotic drop somewhere down the line. Or take my second char. Currently at level 25. This one didnt also have even a legendary drop yet. This char will also have to rely on vendors. This is the problem. That the vendors are needed because of the broken loot system. This should not be the case!

  • Oh I agree whole heartedly but with a true open loot RNG system as with is with Destiny it is impossible to counter. But I know that part of the reason for this is to prevent people from farming only the best of the best exotics and not worring about the rest.

  • No you are not a whiner. I'm absolutley right there with you. I put countless hours into cod-mp back in the day when the netcode was still okay. Since 6 years the lag compensation isn't working anymore and this results me in beeing punished for having a good connection. So I stopped playing CoD. However the netcode problems of CoD seem like a cake compared to this PvP. Now I'm talking about PvP even though I didnt want to :D Think it helps a lot to play together with friends. Its fun. This is one big achievement that Bungie really did: Putting people together. I only hope they will also do something on what the community has to say. Not on what the devs think the community should do. There are so many possibilities for this game. However since we hear nothing announcing good fixes and free content adding like they also promised to do. My hope is currently going down the drain. My gut tells me the DLC won't be worth playing either because of the minimalistic content. It really is such a shame. Such high hopes we all had for this game.

  • If I'm being 100% honest, although I don't want to start bashing or crying over something that hasn't happened yet, deep down I don't think the DLC is going to be anything close to what the industry calls an expansion. I'm willing to give Bungie the benefit of the doubt for now because I like the game and I want to see where they go with it, but I'm worried everyone complaining that the DLC won't have enough content is right. In my opinion, the DLC needs to add about as much content as is already in the vanilla game, other wise hardcore gamers like myself and going to move on. I'd be shocked if it has that much content though.
