After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid.
Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless.
Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents.
Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments.
Example;
Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments
Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments
Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments
What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea? Deserves a sticky maybe? Who knows :D
Edit: Come on back to the front page >:D almost 4000 votes dayum!

I'm a big fan of making a raid currency. Still have rng for items but add in currency. I think they thought shards would be fine. The only problem is once you have all the gear there is no point to run it. I wish destiny had more hear slots. Like rings, necklace, etc for more gear options.

It's a cool theory, honestly, and I would love it, but that's precisely the problem. That would make it like the rest of the venders. It would make it so you would get exactly what you wanted, and it honestly wouldn't be that exciting at the end. Believe me. I beat the normal and hard raid today for the first time each. The normal-I got my current scout rifle, the raid one. On hard-the time breaker sparrow and the scout rifle. It kinda pissed me off, cause we did the normal raid all the way through and got the gun. Then sent Atheon on a cliff hang adventure and got the same thing. I didn't like that. But the anticipation of getting the mythoclast, or that sweet sweet prime zealot helm, kept me happy. If you just saved up and got what you wanted, you wouldn't be enjoying or anticipating the raid as much. Word wall, but again, it's a cool idea, but idk if it should be the permanent change

I hope this gets seen.

This is how they do it in Runescape, if someone gets a rare item everyone gets like 30 shards, turn in 100 for the piece of armor. It doesnt matter theyre just gonna make sure not a single -blam!-er can beat the raid on hard on tuesday.
-
Agreed on all ideas. Mark me up as one of the unlucky ones...5 full clears including a hard mode and more partial ones...and no raid armor to show for it.
-
Definitely agree, I hate that 2 of my 3 characters have only a single piece of raid armor after running every week, including a hard run these last few weeks, I would much rather earn some sort of currency to actually get the gear I need instead of nothing but shards/energy and countless chatterwhite shaders. I really hope they do something like this soon because I'm getting sick of spending hours in the VoG every week to get nothing out of it while watching people that have done it a fraction of the time I have somehow get full armor sets.

1,000 for the Vex

I think it's good how it is, I've been Hard Raiding since week 1 of VoG and just now got full Raid gear this week. No one has had worse loot than me. I think if they did change anything they should make it much harder to get Raid Gear or take away save files so people actually have to earn it.
-
Good idea! However... Bungie has made it clear that making things more difficult in order to make the game "last longer" by spreading the content until it's paper thin is their plan.
-
This is the way it should have been. Its the same for strikes, you have the chance for equipment but you get guaranteed marks. No luck with RNG? You save your marks to get your gear over time. Its fair for everyone and gives everyone the opportunity to get gear. Anyone who says no 'because lvl 30 isnt required' has no idea how having max damage and defense means to a success or failure in an action team game. When you have 25 people in a raid, afew of those players can fumble, die or need extra TLC until they get better gear and learn. But in a game that only allows 6 per raid means everyone has to be at the best for gear and ability. Better gear allows lesser skilled players more leg room for error. I'm all for raid marks and raid gear purchases. Only good can come from it, more properly geared players means more potential raisers; which means more fun for everyone.
-
What they could do is make it have gear that's a weaker than the raid gear but it gives boosts that are beneficial in the VoG.

Edited by TheoKnight: 10/19/2014 11:11:13 PMGuild Wars 2 did exactly this and it was just horrible, no never no, it sounds good on paper but its just bad. This game has plenty of game currecnys such as glimmer, vangaurd marks, crucible marks Mote of light and Strange coins, we dont need more in game currencies for each riad.
-
No. Raid gear isn't essential. There's no benefit to being level 30 really and while the weapons are good they aren't necessarily better than other legendaries or exotics.
-
The raid loot system is the way it is because, like the rest of the game, there's not enough gear... They have to spread it out this way. Now I'm not saying I love the system or anything, but it's there for a reason. If you unlock everything you want with the raid, there's no point actually doing it again.
-
I would enjoy a new system, but to be honest I don't mind the current one. That's only because I haven't been screwed and got all three of my pieces within two completions luckily.
-
Sorry buddy but back to the drawing board.

50 DKP minus

Yeah I'm tired of getting the sparrow over and over again

Basically looking at a new Xur
-
I like this idea :D Anything positive to keep this game going is good in my eyes.
-
If you could just purchase or get what you want every time, it wouldn't be fun. Everyone would max out in a week. Part of the fun is the anticipation and partial luck and you gotta keep playing to get the your favorite weapons/armor. However maybe a choice between 2 options after beating boss would be cool so people don't get 3 ships in a row or 3 mythoclasts in a row.
-
An excellent idea!
-
I think they should overhaul the whole loot system... In diablo 3 ultimate evil edition they track your loot drops, if you go a certain amount of time without a drop they up your percentage rate.
-
I actually enjoy the raid a lot. Maybe im the only one. Ive done the raid i think 5 or 6 times this week. I get the reward system is semi broken. And i absolutely agree about a reward system rather than a rng. I got 4 of the same sniper rifles and ofcourse shards/energies this week. Which sucks cuz that sniper isnt that great even if it was, 4 of the same just sucks regardless. Even if i was given 4 mythoclast i would still say it sucks cuz i would have to dismantle 1-2. I like ur idea i hope it gets implemented seeing how impossible it is to get raid gear socks. I would gladly buy them from the raid vendor
-
I think the raid weapons should have their own, like... Special and heavy 25 frags Primary 30 to match the helm since those are the 2 that are the hardest to drop but vex mythoclast remains the rare drop
-
Nope, it would make getting loot really boring and in the end would give you the same loot over time because they would have to tune the currency drop/item cost to effectively match the drop rate. We already have a currency that can purchase gear that is very much good enough to do the raid in and if you aren't getting enough gear to drop in raid then you certainly are getting enough shards/energy to upgrade the gear you do have so in the end you aren't really out anything as far as light level or weapon damage (except vs oracle but they are so easy to kill anyway). In the end I just see a system like this making the raid loot system very very dull. The thrill of occasionally getting something to drop would be completely removed. That and the drop rate is crazy good in this game compared to other games with raiding, and no one else can take the drop I have been eyeing either. I really like that.
