After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid.
Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless.
Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents.
Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments.
Example;
Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments
Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments
Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments
What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea? Deserves a sticky maybe? Who knows :D
Edit: Come on back to the front page >:D almost 4000 votes dayum!

Edited by Attious: 10/20/2014 6:59:42 AMNo, because I could just farm the raid 3 times with 3 different characters and build up a ton of raid vouchers easily.
-
Edited by lodgie: 10/20/2014 8:11:04 AMI would change it but maybe a raid upgrade to your exotic/legendary gear for killing certain enemy's and completing the raid itself so it rewards the good players and doesn't break the gear system entirely EDIT: shouldn't be any raid upgrades for faction bought legendarys so its not easy but class specific items (cloaks etc) would get perks when receiving raid upgrades for cloaks etc

I love people giving better and new ideas on the clearly unfair RNG system! The common argument of "If you were playing any other MMO it would take months to get the stuff you want" is stupid. WHY WOULD YOU WANT THAT!? Why wouldn't you want a better system that awards you for the actions you do, than randomly rewarding you possibly on something great you maybe did? Why does this game have to be like every other MMO? Why can't it be special and unique, in ways other MMO's are scared to do. That's what's really holding Destiny back I feel. The dev's are too scared to try something different, something never done, and instead are trying to do something already done. BREAK RULES BUNGIE! Knock down the walls! Push the barrier! DO SOMETHING!

Kabr's Ghost won't be a possibility, because he is a Relic now. Technically I think some of its (Ghost's) parts went into making the Relic.
-
Or you could make multiple characters like the rest of the people that have everything they want. It sounds absolutely 0% fun buying raid gear.

Fourth answer: You beat the raid, stop playing the game for loot that you don't need for anything. Go play something enjoyable.
-
so basically say -blam!- it to those who already earned the gear the right way?
-
Sounds like a great idea. It would be a copy, paste and edit of the crucible and vanguard system already in place then people would pms about bungie not coming up with new ideas. Still a good idea though. I read why they made it so u only get to loot one a week though. So nobody can get all the loot in one week them be right on the forums saying there nothing to do. But once u get it their hard way, wouldn't it feel like a giant accomplishment

I would be more iffy about this if I hadn't just ran through the VoG on normal a few minutes ago. Literally every loot check point I got materials. The one time I didn't get a freaking SPIRIT BLOOM from a chest (why is that a drop in VoG? Seriously) or Ascendant mats I got a Warlock Bond. A freaking useless class item. Everyone else got Exotics and Raid Weapons. Still, I don't think it should be too easy to get endgame gear. Maybe only make pieces of the sets available. like just the raid boots and gloves up for purchase.
-
Nope, never should be a guarantee of item A for doing task B for X number of times.
-
at first i thought it would be a great idea, but then having a vendor and currency takes away the raids lore and atmosphere of being this incredibly dangerous place, I'd be more inclined to have 1 of the loot checkpoints be a guaranteed random armour piece, maybe even make it non class specific.
-
as nice as this sounds it would not pan out as you would like it to, raids are not supposed to be a grind for marks to aquire gear. your meant to get gear by defeating challenging bosses and be rewarded for it. Though you could implement a slow gathering of marks so after completing the raid enough and you still have yet to get an item, you could pay for it in marks. If bungie would just make the raids longer with more bosses, a real loot table could and should in my table be added, and some marks to drop for each boss as well but at a slower rate. Very similar to WoW raid gear drop setup which i believed to be very well set up, and here it would become better as the loot would most likely be individualized.

i think that if you finish the vault on normal, you should get a bounty for the templar and atheon, and a third one. The templar one should give you one part of the mythoclast, the atheon part would give you the second part, and the third would requiere you to get both parts and talk to xur in order to pick up your mythoclast.

Edited by Doctor_Dab93: 10/20/2014 2:43:15 AMTokens for different sets of raid gear would be nice.
-
great system! I hope bungie is listening.
-
I say maybe so.. there's good and bad to the current system. Example: I've run VoG probabky 10 or 12 times on normal and maybe 4 attempts on hard. Ive yet to beat hard though, as people like to leave as soon as we get into a rhythm. I've gotten a few guns, but no legendary gear to raise my light yet, so vog hard is still very difficult. My buddy ran it today and got found verdict, Universal remote, chatterwhite, and 3/4 of the raid pieces. I cant get my raid gear because the raid only counts once a week, and I really want that gear :/. I feel like if they change it to a token system though, that everyone will be 30 in like a week or two. Good, maybe bad, idk. Just ny two cents.
-
I endorse this ideas, as someone who has not yet gotten a single piece of raid armor.
-
Yessss so much better than stupid rng giving me shader snd energy, then have to wait another week before trying again...
-
No this how some other mmos work keep it how it is but yes add a raid mark/currency and a raid vendor with raid armor that isn't quit as good as the normal raid gear make it like 29 light.
-
When I used to play MMOs we would run raids every day/week, you were never guaranteed loot or loot for you own class type, and if I did not get any thing I would be a little upset yeah but I would not tell the devs to change any thing.
-
Your pretty much just asking for another Crucible/Vanguard master to sell gear, going backwards in my opinion.
-
Great idea. Being able to reach max level should be attainable to everyone, on their time. Luck doesn't work for the raid.
-
I like my RNG...It also does give off that tattered feel that I picked up armor from a Guardian before me. One that I know was powerful and someday I could match up to them~
-
Hey, are you the same FuddyDuddy from the BF4 forums? ;)

I'm a big fan of making a raid currency. Still have rng for items but add in currency. I think they thought shards would be fine. The only problem is once you have all the gear there is no point to run it. I wish destiny had more hear slots. Like rings, necklace, etc for more gear options.
