After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid.
Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless.
Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents.
Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments.
Example;
Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments
Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments
Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments
What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea? Deserves a sticky maybe? Who knows :D
Edit: Come on back to the front page >:D almost 4000 votes dayum!

Edited by Hypinatr: 10/20/2014 3:24:32 PMI beat Atheon on Hard last night with my Sunsinger. I got 3 ascendant energy and the ship. Helped my clan members with it a few hours ago. 2 people got mythoclast, helmet, and other cool stuff. At least 4 rewards each. It makes no sense and is a terrible system. Edit- So here's what my other characters got after beating Atheon on hard again. Hunter - 3 ascendant shards, ship Titan - 3 ascendant shards, sparrow My clan members all got better stuff. Some had 3 or 4 rewards. Im done putting up with Bungie's BS. I hope the rest of you have better luck. Why put any effort into a game that has a poor loot system.
Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency
uh.. no.
-
I was thinking it could be like, "Oh, you used a handcannon and got 500 precision kills, you get Hawkmoon" or "you got a ton of grenade kills, you have a higher chance of getting the armamentarium" It'd be based off of accomplishments, not RNG, you know?
-
Out of like 10 raids on multiple characters including 2 on hard I got 1 pair of boots for my Titan (twice) and chest armor for my warlock. Other than that ALL shards / energy. Was awesome the other night when my friend got Mythoclast, the helmet and the ship from Atheon and I got shards and another sparrow. No the loot system is totally awesome how it is.
-
No. The main way to get gear in this game is, as with all other looter shooters, RNG. Having guaranteed raid gear makes it too easy to get to thirty, and, honestly, less fun.
-
I personally liked the loot system in wow. It took weeks and weeks of wiping learning and killing bosses to get your whole raid set but I think the key difference is that there were sooooo many more slots for gear in wow. Let's see. Head neck shoulders hand Chest waist legs feet 2 rings 2 trinkets main hand offhand and relic or whatever that's 15 slots! Most people were lucky enough to get at least one slot per raid or maybe more. Then you had off spec gear or maybe 2 off spec sets lol. There was so much gear to get. And what happens hen you get all of your raid gear an weapons. Are you done? Are you going to gear up another char? I only need gloves and I hate only getting shards and energy and that stupid Titan mark but then I'm like "wait I still has a reason to raid on my 3 titans next week yay!!"

MrFuddy, I heard StreamerHouse discussing something like this on twitch just yesterday. That said the idea is great however my question is why isn't rank & marks shared between all your characters like glimmer, it's currently a really annoying grind to get 3 characters to just rank 2 in something let alone raid gear. Not to mention you must grind more to level up the gear on patrols or the like for materials. Your thoughts?
-
Edited by Drakan: 10/20/2014 4:28:58 PMYou mean there is loot in the VoG? Coz all I ever get are ascendant materials.
-
I enjoy the game but I agree that the current end game loot system needs to be adjusted. RNG Loot + Difficult Content + A Week Lock Out = Endless Frustration I'm all for difficult content but it should not be coupled with RNG loot AND a week long lockout from getting another attempt. Personally, I'm not for a raid loot system (I kind of like the randomness) but I do think a huge improvement would be to simply reduce the loot lockout to 24 hours or come up with something more clever than this current stale WoW holdover.
-
I agree to the loot system being changed even if they made the raid gear you buy slightly different to distinguish the purchased and the rng ones. I always thought a rep based system with bounties would have been a nice alternative too but overall your idea is sound
-
OR...just have it so that Atheon guarantees an armor piece or weapon if you haven't yet gotten either that week. I've run the raid 5 times and gotten 1 piece of armor and the shotgun. That's it.
-
Make him not sell the helmet and then we're all good.
-
Edited by darkz1821: 10/20/2014 4:22:30 PMathon 1 raid armor, templer 1 weapon an the rest random
-
Agree on the currency, but there should be different currency for hard gear instead of a one size fits all currency. That way you would have to do hard to get the specific currency for hard gear, and you should be afforded enough currency to grab one item after the check points that award items currently.
-
They should change it but it should be hard to earn enough marks to get it. Enough with the free handouts already.
-
Maybe we could cash in all those chatter whites for something as well. I have a healthy collection of those building up in my vault.
-
I'd like to get a little something for completing the raid on multiple runs. I completed the raid 4 times this week and got a bunch of ascendant material. Which is fine but I only got stuff for that one run. I think it would be fair to get some ascendant material for each attempt that week. Not as much but toss a repeat raider a couple of shards on those chests. Make it so there is only a chance for gear once a week but you can get ascendant stuff each time.
-
That would make it to easy to get raid gear. Raid gear is for the top tier players in destiny.
-
Edited by Karadras-CCS: 10/20/2014 3:33:35 PMAlmost a month playing raids, completing it on my 3 characters, one of each class.ç (not going for the 3 hunters, titan, warlock thing), and not a single piece of armor so far. Ive gotten good weapons, but still no armor. Sigh....
-
If you get 5-15 marks for normal mode, all the gear should cost about 30 marks each (at least). I think it should be a challenge to get to 30, it shouldn't be easy.
-
Honestly, the more and more I think about it the more I think they should implement a system similar to WoW. Give loot tables to each event/boss as well as 'x' amount of reputation currency for each first kill of the week. Make the raid drops much stronger and the rep gear a solid step between standard legendary and raid legendary items. Then have "Hard" mode sets above the normal mode.
-
I would like there to be a guaranteed item reward at the end of either a weapon or piece of armour even if its random.
-
Edited by Hotrods324: 10/20/2014 3:15:15 PMThey could solve the issue totally if Atheon on normal and hard had dedicated drops. I. E. Guaranteed to drop at least one piece. So no matter what you get at least one piece a week. It's frustrating to run the raid 5 weeks in a row on 2 characters and get nothing. Run it once with a new guy and he gets 3 pieces. What did I do rngesus? What did I do!
-
So a system similar to the justice/valor one from WoW. It could work, I like it.
-
You should be able to upgrade any armor you wish, think its pony we all have to look the same to he lvl 30. You wouldn't need a vendor then, and people would have allsorts of unique stuff with perks they like best
-
Sounds like more handouts.... put gauranteed reward and people will just gimp it to get handouts. As is, the systems broke... theres enough lvl 28s due to them farming the queens items for shards early on...and more 29s after they started glitching atheon, and even more yet so...from loot caving. F this. Reduce the drop rate for rares... demote all exotics to legendary status.... and restart the loot rare/legendary/ exotic rate... These crybabies get enough handouts.
