What if a "hard" patrol was added to the game?

Since I like to spend time just running around earth and Venus shooting everything in sight, I had a thought: What if there was a patrol world with enemies lvl 20+ and not the level players would be when the campaign brought them to said planet. This would probably encourage more people to play the patrol since there is now an added challenge to it. Another idea would be to increase the spawn rate of mini bosses. It sucks to grind out ~50 vandals just to find one reaver. What do you guys think? Edit: Thanks for the feedback! Some possible additions could include fighting off the Darkness, possibly on Vex controlled Mercury, as well as visual effects of a storm, rain and general darkness. Another thing as mentioned in the OP is a big increase in yellow health enemies, a lot of you agree with that part. Last, if rep earned was increased it would make leveling vanguard much easier. I will be posting this in the feedback forum so please visit the link and comment so that it will be noticed there! Keep the ideas rolling! Edit2: over 400 comments! Wow! Some more ideas are to add patrol gear, similar to raid gear that can bring you to lvl 30. Obviously it will be hard to get, but still attainable. Another point was raised that it would not require a whole lot of work on bungie's part since the map and enemies are just about ready. I wanna hear more ideas so we can make this happen!     I'll take a level 30 patrol. Add quadruple the enemies, make chests have a minimum of 5 mats and boost the frequency of super chests. Have mini bosses roaming the map in hordes. Think: a devil walker that walks circles on the map with a dozen captain's, 20 vandals, 30 gregs, and 40 skanks guarding it. I would patrol just to fight that army. Another idea could be a dozen miniatures/hobs, a couple dozen gobs/heroes escorting a gatekeeper or gatelord around Venus. That would be fun. make it a n event abd reward mats based of performance. More/precision abd less deaths in a fast time get mouse mats. Say 50 for 0 deaths in >2:30. Increase mob abd event difficulty based off of players involved. Edit: also make enemies actively guard chests and materials.

    • Maybe outside of the normal patrol areas you could have harder enemies and mini bosses, or larger public events.

    • Bungie should add in a Hard and Inferno tier patrol (Hard lvl20 - lvl29, Inferno lvl30-32 when dlc drops). This would add in some more fun on top of challenge and make a new tier of rarity that can only be found in the Inferno patrols. Possibly make it like exotics, good stats and buffs, only equip one at a time along with one exotic.

      • Im totally down for harder missions on patrol. On earth there is already an area that is level 20 Hive running around. Its basically the back way into the refinery through some caves. Its beyond the ship yard area. Ideally the missions to access the hard areas would only be accessible once you reach level 20 light status. Then the missions open up in patrol.

        If they were going to add hard patrols, then I would demand that they would be entirely new regions to explore. For Earth, new continents like say South America or Africa. There's more to Earth than Old Russia, even if Putin disagrees...

      • Yes please anything to make patrol/free roam more interesting to higher leveled players would be welcome. As it is now i think most o us only patrol to farm materials for upgrades.

      • That sounds really cool, maybe have the area pvp available for different facations while on partol. Each kill to another faction gains one repuation towards yours maybe some glimar, fireteam you are with must wear the same faction . Strike bosses as a patrol mission, where you'll have to kill before another fireteam of 3 comes to fight for it. Its "hard patrol" so it should not be easy and would give the game a different competitive aspect mixing pvp and pve into one catogory.

      • Yeah, killing the Devil Walker with no more than a few shots from an exotic sniper doesn't feel as rewarding as it did in the beta, when it took at least three people to complete it.

        • It would be especially nice if it spawned more Majors and Ultras as well as offered more xp for leveling up my weapons. I think it's a great idea.

        • Hell yea,im down with hard mode patrols,patrol gear sounds good too,im getting tired of running the vault over and over and pvp really isnt my thing.I spend most of my game time patrolling the planet.It would definitely be nice to give that some meaning and added challenge.

          • There's already rain on Venus. If you look up to the sky while its raining water drops collect on your "mask" If hard mode patrols were to be included they would need to be for more rep. Problem is it doesnt take much to max out the vanguard rep anyway.

          • Have it so that you could randomly encounter "expeditionary forces" of the different races on planets they aren't normally associated with, like the Cabal on the moon, or the Hive on Mars. Have full scale battles break out as pubic events, where endless enemies are spawned and guardians have to band together to hold them off for a set amount of time, while random high level variants supplement the normal enemies or low level variations of bosses occur, like a weaker devil walker or a strong ogre appear to harass the guardians. And if you want to make it even more chaotic, have multiple enemy factions be involved in the battles. Realistic damage dealt by enemies. Something similar to the void/arc/solar burn modifiers, to make it more challenging to survive in patrol so that I feel like I'm in the wastelands with a chance of dying.
