Atheon Teleport Mechanics Update Feedback

I have not complained about any changes to this game. - Loot Cave - okay, patch it (and you gave us a fun Easter Egg at that). - Gun nerfs/buffs - you guys know best, you can watch how we play and address what's needed to provide multiple alternatives with weapon selection in PVP. - Templar column - Even though I backed this as a "strategy", I only tried to help *one* group that insisted on it and my group has always had dedicated roles in that fight. We played the ground game and continue to do so, we're better and faster at it. - Atheon "baby bumpers" - Yes, please. They're not necessary when you have a good team who play well together and know roles that we have unanimously determined by preference and vote. I didn't support the bug that broke him. - Atheon's teleport behavior? - Please, Bungie, please. Most successful Raid teams have found that different members are better at different roles. This is a TEAM event. I, for one, am the dedicated Relic-holder for that fight. We've watched gameplay mechanics, we developed a system, a strategy, to break our group into two. Portal team does what needs to be done in the portals, and Gatekeeper team survives the hordes of suicidal Harpies, opens the necessary gate, and generally does the most damage to Atheon once Portal team is out, because we're busy getting ready to go back in again. [b]The Atheon teleport change will break not only our strategy, but most successful teams' strategies.[/b] The fight will be utter chaos. Not everyone plays the same role in a team - that's what makes a TEAM. If we could all perform the same roles, we'd be interchangeable. Why stay together? Our group dynamics are great and we all get along well, but the glitches in Atheon's fight were tough enough to get through without someone raging. The deaths of a single dedicated member alone can make the fight unwinnable. [b]We are using legitimate strategy there, Bungie.[/b] There is no unfair advantage, no taking advantage of unfair enemy behavior (some predictability is not a bad thing!), we just got our team 100% set this week! Not everyone can be expected to perform the same in a team. We all have strengths and weaknesses and that is part of what brings us together. [b]We fill in each other's gaps in playstyle to complete the group.[/b] Please rethink this Atheon patch. "Baby bumpers" are great. Make the community fight for their victory! But don't completely trash mechanics that aren't broken. I know six of me could not beat this Raid, nor could six of any other gamer I know. Level playing fields are great, but don't take away our individual strengths. Sorry for the long post. I have reposted this in the Feedback forum where it belongs, as I've asked others who post in the #destiny category. [b]I've always supported you guys and plan on continuing to... Don't break the Raid, please![/b]

  • I agree 100 % with this post ... The setting up of the team and who does what and when are the fun parts I agree we all perform better at some tasks. I am part of the teleport team and it suits me well

  • I totally agree. Having a teleport team and a vault team is a strategy, not an exploit. The group I raid with were successful for the 1st time this week (our 2nd attempt) by having clearly defined roles, communicating and cooperating. I was really looking forward to next week, and subsequent weeks running the raid to hone our skills and get ready to run in hard mode. This raid was supposed to be all about teamwork, hence no matchmaking, now the effective team tactics that have been developed have been nerfed for reasons that are completely unclear to me. I love cooperative game playing, and I've been loving this game despite the limitations at launch, and with the hope that the commitment to support and develop it would improve things, but this???

  • never commented before on these forums. as I know bungie will fix a lot and I am with them on most parts.. but here they are dropping the ball. so please don't... The Atheon teleport change will break not only our strategy, but most successful teams' strategies. The fight will be utter chaos.     • I'm ok with the not being able to throw Atheon out the map. Having to send random players to get the Relic? oh hell no! I'm ok being a defender. Killing the supplicants is like second nature to me and just today I became an Oracle killer. I'd rather kill things than pic up the relic I leave that thing for someone who knows how to use it.

    • I welcome the update, looking forward to seeing how much harder it makes the raid. I don't think it make much of a difference unless the 3 "worst" players get teleported and they mess up dealing with the mobs in the middle. Lower levels will suffer slightly, but most people raiding are at least 28 anyway now.

    • Don't change Aetheon's teleport mechanics, not everyone is a good shield bearer and not everyone is going to be good at oracles. If you change this you are fixing a problem that doesn't exist. Just make it so you can't cheese him (if you have to do anything at all). It would be a patch that makes sense, but changing his time mechanic makes no sense.

      • I 100% agree this will break the raid....... Setting random teleporting will destroy all tactics and planning.... Some ppl just sent good with relic or in side portals.... I agree its good to know but this is going to kill the raid...

      • I agree with you that the current legit way to do atheon with predictable teleport targetting is not broken and a great fight. But the way I look at the upcoming changes its a new more challenging way to do this fight. The current fight is easy, and we get a free upgrade to a different harder way to do the fight. I've done all parts of the fight so I could experience all aspects of it. I know I'm not the only one.

        I think that the random teleporting is an absolutely brilliant idea. Here’s why: firstly, it ensures that no-one in the team can be ‘carried’. This means that one under-levelled team-member can’t just sit on top of a pillar outside doing little work and getting rewarded the same for it as everyone else. If you have an under-levelled person in your team you’ll likely have to switch him out for a higher-levelled and more skilled player. Secondly, it forces more communication and I think that the unpredictability will make the encounter more exciting. You’ll never feel comfortable or safe. Thirdly, Warlocks won’t have the outside locked-down by constantly reviving themselves which can make the encounter easy. Fourth, it means that Atheon is now a tougher challenge than the Templar (for our raid team the Templar was the harder boss) and those people who are duplicating checkpoints and who are not serious about the raid and team-work will simply come up against a brick-wall. Overall this means that getting the good gear, including the Mythoclast on hard difficulty is going to take a hell of a lot more team-work, organization, and skill. If you guys can’t handle the increase in difficulty, and want to go back to cheesing Atheon, go and play Borderlands the pre-sequel where you can still one-shot raid bosses with the Flakker glitch.

            Agreed, hopefully deej takes literal notice of the fact that players want it to remain the same and not make it random.

          • Well spoken man!!! They should fix more important stuff, like the bug when you pass through the portal... Making a mechanic like THAT, random is never fun...it takes away any strategy you come up with, and leaves the player frustrated and confused. You said that with upcoming updates the game will get better...nerfing and randomizing stuff does not balance a game...it destroys it!
