Atheon Teleport Mechanics Update Feedback

I have not complained about any changes to this game. - Loot Cave - okay, patch it (and you gave us a fun Easter Egg at that). - Gun nerfs/buffs - you guys know best, you can watch how we play and address what's needed to provide multiple alternatives with weapon selection in PVP. - Templar column - Even though I backed this as a "strategy", I only tried to help *one* group that insisted on it and my group has always had dedicated roles in that fight. We played the ground game and continue to do so, we're better and faster at it. - Atheon "baby bumpers" - Yes, please. They're not necessary when you have a good team who play well together and know roles that we have unanimously determined by preference and vote. I didn't support the bug that broke him. - Atheon's teleport behavior? - Please, Bungie, please. Most successful Raid teams have found that different members are better at different roles. This is a TEAM event. I, for one, am the dedicated Relic-holder for that fight. We've watched gameplay mechanics, we developed a system, a strategy, to break our group into two. Portal team does what needs to be done in the portals, and Gatekeeper team survives the hordes of suicidal Harpies, opens the necessary gate, and generally does the most damage to Atheon once Portal team is out, because we're busy getting ready to go back in again. [b]The Atheon teleport change will break not only our strategy, but most successful teams' strategies.[/b] The fight will be utter chaos. Not everyone plays the same role in a team - that's what makes a TEAM. If we could all perform the same roles, we'd be interchangeable. Why stay together? Our group dynamics are great and we all get along well, but the glitches in Atheon's fight were tough enough to get through without someone raging. The deaths of a single dedicated member alone can make the fight unwinnable. [b]We are using legitimate strategy there, Bungie.[/b] There is no unfair advantage, no taking advantage of unfair enemy behavior (some predictability is not a bad thing!), we just got our team 100% set this week! Not everyone can be expected to perform the same in a team. We all have strengths and weaknesses and that is part of what brings us together. [b]We fill in each other's gaps in playstyle to complete the group.[/b] Please rethink this Atheon patch. "Baby bumpers" are great. Make the community fight for their victory! But don't completely trash mechanics that aren't broken. I know six of me could not beat this Raid, nor could six of any other gamer I know. Level playing fields are great, but don't take away our individual strengths. Sorry for the long post. I have reposted this in the Feedback forum where it belongs, as I've asked others who post in the #destiny category. [b]I've always supported you guys and plan on continuing to... Don't break the Raid, please![/b]

    • They are just trying to extend the current content to make it last longer, that's all. Still wont make up for the story though. I'm enjoying this game, but only because I play with my buds. Instead of creating an Ultra Hard raid and introduce the new random logic and upping the rewards, they are shafting the people that have not completed the VOG. Its obvious Bungie was part of MS way too long. I just cant tell if this will be their Win8 or Xone debacle.

    • If you really pride yourself on being a good team then you should be able to adapt your strategy to fight an enemy that can teleport to random places. Stop asking Bungie to have the game made easy for you. Enjoy the challenge. I finally got to play VOG (post patch) for the first time a couple of days ago with just one friend and four randoms we got from online groups. Even with my inexperience at the raid and four randoms we beat VOG in just over an hour (SEE BUNGIE, RAIDS CAN BE DONE WITH RANDOMS. NOW PUT MATCHMAKING IN ALREADY). My point is, we enjoyed the challenge and beat it without too many retries. We didn't cry. We beat the challenge as a team.

      • My problem with Bungie making Atheon's Teleporting behavior random is that it feels like punishment. "Some bastards found a way to push Atheon off the cliff? Screw them ALL then." The most ironic of this is that the people who glitched it, are the ones more ready now to fight Atheon.

          Bungie before Destiny is released: "There's no one way to win at Destiny." Bungie after Destiny is released: "We're fixing the game so that you can only win by using the one way we've put in place." I'm not necessarily against the changes Bungie has made, I'm just against their reasoning for said changes. Their hypocrisy is cause for concern.

            Atheon baby bumpbers disappoint me. I was hoping they would give Atheon a Minotaur like blink/teleport if he fell off the edge so falling wouldn't kill him just move him back into place which would fit much better with his lore. Because it would have been like his position of falling to his "death" was actively rewritten. And I agree randomly teleporting 3 people is stupid. It hinders strategy and player role specialization. Also considering people of different levels go into the raid together getting all of the lowest level people sent into the portal could mean a wipe if your group has under leveled people. I remember the first time I beat Atheon on normal. Our group had four level 27s one level 29 and myself level 28. If our three level 27 warlocks had be sent into the portal they would have had a lot of trouble dealing with everything in the gate and that Minotaur in the right (future/green) side would have destroyed them. The only reason we were able to beat him through the level penalty was because we split into teams and coordinated everyone into doing a nearly perfect run where almost no one died. If we were being randomly teleported coordinating that would have been a nightmare.

            • There's only one problem with this. They've made it random for that exact purpose. To throw a big wrench in your tidy, well-oiled machine of a team. Adapt and overcome.

            • Agree 100%. Splitting up the teams is a legit strategy and shouldn't be patched. I think it actually encourages team work even more than randomized teleport

            • The problem is, the developer is pissed off at the fact that their hardest boss has been killed with out any cheese methods or any other glitches in 17 seconds, thats why now every one gets a slap in a face. Btw i normaly carry the relic in my raid so i really dont care but on the other hand i wouldnt give it to some other people from the raid. Fk doing same lerning curve againg.

I really hope Bungie realises that this is going too far and will utterly destroy any shed of faith that the dedicated community still has left in them. What is the point of looking forward to any future DLC or games when everything just ends up completely random? Compare this to competative sports. to the Olympics. There are set parameters which should not be changed on a whim.

              • I secretly like it because I have teammates who just want to take a backseat outside the portal. This makes it harder. It is still a team effort because you won't make it if you have more than two people who cannot run shield. There's no I in team, remember.

              • Bungie, I cannot stress this enough... PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS CHANGE TO THE ATHEON FIGHT! Our Raid team wiped multiple times in the final boss fight because we were playing with ONE new member who kept teleporting when he was supposed to be defending. Our success in defeating Atheon was a testament to our ability to work as a team, know our roles, and assign floaters to fill in if any guardians fell in battle. This final battle is so frustrating as it is... I cannot imagine the utter chaos that will ensue if this change goes into effect. Knowing what role you play in each act of this battle effects what armor you equip, what weapons you use, and where you take up position on each side of the map. I have agreed with all of the other changes that have been made with patches, but this is ridiculous. There is nothing to fix! PLEASE DON'T RUIN THE RAID. You already make us grind through this two hour long battle just for a RANDOM CHANCE at raid gear, because it is the ONLY way to reach the level cap, which is difficult enough... And now you want to make that even worse? You know what? Let me make it easy for you. I'll just go ahead and bend over.

              • Whatever the reason. Its a poor design choice. Raids in any game require strategic play and player assigned roles. If its a bug, its BETTER than the original intended random teleport. bungie please leave the bug in place, and thanks for a fun game.
