I have not complained about any changes to this game.
- Loot Cave - okay, patch it (and you gave us a fun Easter Egg at that).
- Gun nerfs/buffs - you guys know best, you can watch how we play and address what's needed to provide multiple alternatives with weapon selection in PVP.
- Templar column - Even though I backed this as a "strategy", I only tried to help *one* group that insisted on it and my group has always had dedicated roles in that fight. We played the ground game and continue to do so, we're better and faster at it.
- Atheon "baby bumpers" - Yes, please. They're not necessary when you have a good team who play well together and know roles that we have unanimously determined by preference and vote. I didn't support the bug that broke him.
- Atheon's teleport behavior? - Please, Bungie, please. Most successful Raid teams have found that different members are better at different roles. This is a TEAM event. I, for one, am the dedicated Relic-holder for that fight. We've watched gameplay mechanics, we developed a system, a strategy, to break our group into two. Portal team does what needs to be done in the portals, and Gatekeeper team survives the hordes of suicidal Harpies, opens the necessary gate, and generally does the most damage to Atheon once Portal team is out, because we're busy getting ready to go back in again.
The Atheon teleport change will break not only our strategy, but most successful teams' strategies. The fight will be utter chaos. Not everyone plays the same role in a team - that's what makes a TEAM. If we could all perform the same roles, we'd be interchangeable. Why stay together? Our group dynamics are great and we all get along well, but the glitches in Atheon's fight were tough enough to get through without someone raging. The deaths of a single dedicated member alone can make the fight unwinnable.
We are using legitimate strategy there, Bungie. There is no unfair advantage, no taking advantage of unfair enemy behavior (some predictability is not a bad thing!), we just got our team 100% set this week! Not everyone can be expected to perform the same in a team. We all have strengths and weaknesses and that is part of what brings us together. We fill in each other's gaps in playstyle to complete the group.
Please rethink this Atheon patch. "Baby bumpers" are great. Make the community fight for their victory! But don't completely trash mechanics that aren't broken. I know six of me could not beat this Raid, nor could six of any other gamer I know. Level playing fields are great, but don't take away our individual strengths.
Sorry for the long post. I will be reposting this in the Feedback forum where it belongs, as I've asked others who post in the #destiny category. I've always supported you guys and plan on continuing to... Don't break the Raid, please!

I haven't undertaken the raid yet, and quite frankly it worries me because I've taken part in anything like this; I don't want to let my fellow team members down being the "the weakest link". Is it not expected that a military unit would help hone their newest team members and guide them through new experiences? This would mean they allot particular duties to that member until they gain the necessary experience. The changes mean I am simply in less of a hurry to take on the VoG.

Grats to everyone who got to exploit a bug for their mythoclast! Tough luck legit raiders of the future!

Signed!

Couldnt agree more! If they change that.. The fight is ruined. Let everyone fill a role they are good at.. Thats tactic!

When will shotguns be removed from the game and Bladedancers balanced?

I got you bro. Ok let's tear atheon a new one the traditional way. But in defense to the Templar exploit it is actually pretty funny because it is based on the rules of engagement that they developed. Lol. The first time I saw it was this weekend and was shocked. Ok first off the oracles are not that hard. Even on hard mode. Neither is the summoning if the minions or protecting of the confluxes but : If you don't knock the Templar shield down with the relic then he doesn't teleport. Who ever came up with that is a genius because who would have thought. We all just normally grab the relic hunker down. Shoot oracle. Kill the swarm and move on. Take down his shield. Hit him hard. Rinse and repeat. So discovering that was epic. Taking the time to figure out that throwing specific grenades works. Ok that works knocking him back. Your still fighting the 10 million vex coming at you. A vex grenade knocks your guardian halfway across the map randomly so what's the difference. It is just an example that the developers want you to beat him like this. Not like that. Again not defending cheats or hacks or glitches Being neutral. The raid is still video game hell but with the right crew we have all completed it the way bungie designed however we have also have fallen victim too glitches in the game after a perfect run. Only to wipe because of something the game did. Not the team. Concentrate on that developers before pointing the figure at the guy in his living room at the mercy of ur mistakes

I couldn't agree with you more. I would sum up my thoughts on this but you've pretty much said it for me. I hope Bungie listens.
-
A change like this would be completely infuriating. We were able to do the raid with a lower level BECAUSE we could assign him to teleport. If that decision could not have been made, we would have been unsuccessful. Please don't limit team ingenuity and oversight. Randomization here simply cuts off more people from enjoying this content.

bump bump for a well said comment
-
I agree every other fix would be bearable but randomizing the teleports during the Atheon fight would make things almost to difficult.

BUM BUM BUMMMMMMP

Most constructive criticism ever. +1

Excellent post, you've done a great job explaining why the current system works and how randomizing portals will BREAK the raid for the majority of players. Many players haven't even played the raid yet, let alone had the chance to figure out every role. I've been lucky enough to complete the raid twice, in both the relic holder and supplicant/portal opening roles. The chaos in randomizing roles is unimaginable. Atheon will never die, because the scramble of who carries the relic is going to dominate the fight. There is very little time to damage him significantly as it is. Once Atheon gets enraged after a certain amount of time, it's game over. Bungie, please re-think this change, I guarantee it will ruin the raid experience for everyone. I'm level 29 and the only thing I need to do in the game is get two more pieces of raid gear. I'm not sure I ever will now.

I truly love you post man. Well said and those are exactly my words. My thoughts are in your post. Perfectly said and explained.

-
Randomizing the teleport behavior would completely contradict Bungie's original intention of the raid being a "TEAM" effort.
-
STICKY THIS -blam!-ING SHIT GUYS
-
I agree with this. The randomized teleport is a recipe for disaster... At least on normal VoG. I think everyone needs to know how to do everything but forcing it upon us with the patch goes against and contradicts the destiny philosophy. I like sniping supplicants, I'm good at it- it's my destiny- and you tell me I can't just snipe supplicants. Then you tell me I can't just hold relic? Make up your mind- it's like you just want everyone to be the same... And if I'm sniping supplicants and suddenly I'm in the future killing oracles- I'm going to want to change weapons.... Make it easier to swap exotics... Wow. But all in all just quit patching stuff we don't need patched...

Say it all again so people will hear!! 100% agree with ur post
-
Yup, sounds like more RNG to me. Maybe they should rename the game to RNGeesus just for the hell of it. I support your post.
