Bungie, seriously, what's it going to take?

First let me get it out there and say I've tried really hard to be biased towards yall. You supported ALS, I would support you. But you guys are making this damned difficult. I've been gaming since an Eagle 64 PC, that's pre 286. To play games we had to go to Napa Valley and get magazines so we could code the damn things in ourselves. Ask around in the community, I'm sure one of us still has one of those magazines. I've have seen a lot of games come and go: King's Quest, Earthsiege, Rings of Lore, MechWarrior, etc. A lot of these games were great ideas, some too far ahead of the tech at the time, and others, well they were crap anyways. But there has been 3 constants that have and always will kill a game: 1: It was a crap idea to begin with 2: Profits before players 3: Loss of replayability You don't have to worry about the first one. This game has MASSIVE potential. Honestly it's has more then I've seen in any other game in recent memory. But yall are dangerously close to the other 2. If you put players before profit, you'll make more profit. That's easy. if a game has no replayability, no ones going to buy the sequel cause it wont be worth the $60, might as well wait until Gamestop puts it on the used rack. I understand this is a decade game, but I'm not going to wait 10 years for yall to get it right. Wake up and smell the cordite. This game does not feel anywhere close to a finished product. The story (what little there is) ends so abruptly, it feels like a second date where she invited you in for coffee, and she means it. This game leaves you expecting more, not wanting more. It fails to deliver. Remember, yall advertised this as a PVE FPS MMO RPG. First of all, way to slaughter the Alphabet, second where's the PVE content? This does not feel like a 500 million dollar game. It reminds me of Brink. I love the idea of building a legend, except there is no legend here. My story is the exact same as the guy who just shot me in the face for the umpteenth time. AT level 30 you've beaten everything, why continue playing? Heroic events are just rehashed events you've played 20 times already. What's the point? I'm off to storm the Black Garden.....again. Please, I'm begging you, listen to the players. We all have different ideas, sure. The guy I linked has great ideas. Some I don't agree with, others can be tweaked. But for the simple fact that he took the time to mock everything up, it's seems like he's put more time into ensuring the games success then ya'll have. That aint right. Wake up Bungie. *EDIT* I post ideas as a response to the main thread as a way for ya'll to critique that particular idea. And it helps prevent the Great Wall of Text. Also it helps me organize my thoughts.

The game feels like it's out of line with it's own story line. The end of human civilization as we know it has already passed. It's time for extinction now. And yet, apparently dry cleaners still work. The place is too clean. Dirty it up a bit. We had centuries of a Golden Age, where's the tech? Use your own loot caves to your advantage. Lost Tech caches. Find them and find lost music. You might get Drowning Pools "Bodies" or "Swan Lake" but it's something. Or you might find useful Modulars for you helm, like IR vision. Seriously, we have it now, was there an IR offensive we didn't know about? And cut down on the forms of currency. Do you accept "Crucible Express?" Have the Motes as a sacrifice. 10 Motes = 1 light, or spend it on whatever. *EDIT* Thanks to Ozman51 for the link. I would suggest everyone (I'm looking at you Bungie) read this, especially the PVP players who can't understand why all us PVErs are torqued here.

  • I'd like to see a true legend building experience. Like Beowulf, or Hercules. Hell I'd settle for Bubble Boy at this point. Give us titles, Something set to a condition. For example, if you load into a strike, and the other 2 drop out, AND you complete it with NO deaths. That's legend worthy. Make the conditions secret, never to be known. When someone completes a deed like that let them brag about it. You could also place specialized UNIQUE enemies on patrol. Something rumors will be based on. They use hit and run tactics so they're not something you'll stalk on patrol. Try this, you're on patrol on Venus trying to get Future War Cult's sonic screwdrivers....again. All of the sudden you hear an electric ripping sound and some Vex creation leaps out of a pocket dimension. It looks like a horrible love child between a jaguar and a spider. It pounces you, forcing you into another pocket dimension, cutting you off from all help. Health wise it's set to level 28 mission boss. You have to kill or be killed. And this thing hits HARD. Now imagine what everyone else saw. You were there, then you weren't. Never to be heard from again. Or you kill it, and you go to the tower where you do the victory walk to the Vanguards table, dragging the mutilated corpse behind you. Hence, you toss it on the table and bathe in the glory. Come on guys, you know you want to do the walk. Like every kid wants to do a WWE entrance. We can have it so everyone who witnesses it gets a buff to precision damage for a short time. Like a confidence boost. That's how you feel like your becoming Legend.

  • This city needs a bar. I propose that it be named Mad Hatter's Icehouse. Set up a location where people how are looking to build/join a fireteam for raid, strike, etc. can go. Everyone gets a floater saying LFG, LFR, LFP, LFS, or my favorite BEER (which basically means I'm here for the beer, leave me alone.) You can throw in the obligatory dance floor, cute waitresses etc.

  • The city needs work. We have Fallen at the gate, yet no one seems to care. There's no consequence. To quote the Joker: "This town needs an enema!" We're under siege, and cities under siege need supplies. There is an easy work around for this. The city has a ever depleting pool of supplies, once that number hits zero the Fallen attack. Our jobs is to, obviously, prevent that from happening. Supply runs can be worked into the patrols, but another way to do it is to use the ammo paks on the ground. After a firefight the ground looks like a Rave just threw up all over. Once our loadout is full, have whatever paks we run across get transmatted to the ship. They'll be broken down and given to the city next time we Tower at a rate of 100 full mags to 1 unit of supplies. This way the City gets supplies to keep the number from hitting zero. If the number hits zero, the City runs out of supplies and bingo, you have a breach. We can have the epic battle of course, but the main thing is the consequence. If the walls are breached, all vendors with the exception of the Vangaurd and bounty tracker (postmaster too) are gone for the following week. They're hiding under a rock while we clean up the mess. This gives us a reason to fight for the city, you know? The whole premise of the game?

    • It's going to take a better "community manager". Seriously. I've seen better community managing on the League of Legends forums, and that's the most toxic community ever. Instead of reading these constructive posts, Deej is out trying to play "big man on campus" while getting baited by shitposters. Of all the threads he responds to, the ratio of good/bad ones is about 25/1.

Also it helps me organize my thoughts.[/quote] I have to completely agree. This game had so much potential, and now I'm extremely let down. I anticipated this game for months. The beta gave us, the players, s best taste as to what we were going to expect from this game. And after twelve hours of gameplay, there's nothing left. Except going into the crucible and getting creamed due to not having good enough gear. I expected a huge playable area. And this have fails to have that. O had more playable space in prototype than this game. I gave up getting a game in a series that I love just to get destiny. And now, I am going to be getting rid of destiny, trading it in to get a game that has not disappointed me. But rather made the game more interesting. I would love to revisit destiny when it's available with all its doc. Other than that, this game was great, but was absolutely nothing like you promised. Bungie, you failed me. You failed every player of destiny. Listen to us and fix this game.

          • Honestly I could cut the game some slack if it weren't for the little things. Like volume control. Simple little thing that is in EVERY decent game. How hard can that be. Sometimes the action is drowned out by the music. Can we at least have this?

              • Who's the big Boogey man in this game? The Darkness. What is it, no idea. What's it doing? Apparently nothing. How bout it's time for the darkness to get involved. The Traveler finds host for Light power right, then it should be vice versa. Humanity blitzed the stars, some ships were bound to disappear. Guess what (creepy girl voice) "They're Baaaaccck". Have Plague ships show up. Mini-Raids that happen in space. Take a 3-6 man team and breach the ships to disable/destroy them. Thing is, we're not fighting Cabal or Vex or space cockroaches. Make this horror, Event Horizon style. Damned difficult to win, and makes you want to have a change of pants next to you when you play. Make them random events. Take it one step further, have the difficulty ramp up with each team that gets wiped. That way whichever team does beat it, they truly have bragging rights. And a title or a black shader or something. We have spaceships...let us use them.

              • Once a week, have one of the enemies be the IT enemy. Massive buildup on patrol. For example, the Cabal. They're tired of having to constantly swat down Vex every 30 seconds. They're going to launch a massive offensive against the Black Garden. That means roaming patrols, more Imperials and triple the force size standing now. We need to stop them, because the Vex are the only thing that's holding the Cabal at bay. Set a Kill Count Goal as the condition to win. We have to kill 5 million of the turtle bastards or else the following week the force size will stay the same. Something like that.

                • You should look into the environment in the game. The Travelers dead, comatose, hung over, what ever. The terraforming on the other planets should be reverting themselves. On Mars have dust storms hit. Slow loss of health unless your inside. On Venus, massive monsoons. Scanning and transmatting not available. On Earth, earthquakes. 30 seconds of immobility and martinis. Have the Earthquakes open loot caves or instances. On the moon, pocket loss of gravity. Bounce further, but mobility hindered. It wouldn't be a permanent state, just something to shake things up a bit.

                • One of the ideas I had is to give the Ghost some utility. All he's doing right now is making me want to grab a Louisville Slugger and channel my inner Babe Ruth. Now I'm basing this off of PS3 controls, but when we hit select we should have few options. 1: Resource scanning. Driving around Mars looking for Relic Iron shouldn't feel like a road trip with ones parents. When we hit select have the ghost auto scan for resources. They don't have to be pinpoint, have the radar react to resources like enemies, just make the color green. That way we still have to hunt for them, but it gives some reason to run patrols. We're not helping the city since most of the missions are from factions. 2: Binoc mode. if we hit the D-Pad have the Ghost rise in the air and snapshot a 75 degree FOV. Enemies in LOS get tags that last for 60 seconds. Make this something not usable in PVP 3: One thing I actually thought would be in the game (stupid me) is the ability to play music. It was in the trailer, and I thought that would be just awesome. Come on, imagine taking on the Black Garden with "I Need a Hero" for background music. Now that song is stuck in your head. You know you want to. Make it so there's "Lost Tech" caches around the worlds. Lost music is just a bonus. What do yall think?
