Playing Destiny together within the same network

Hey there I've got a major problem with playing Destiny together with my roommate within the same network. With the launch day we started playing Destiny. Our PS4s were both in the same WLAN network and it worked a long time. Then we both hit level 20, a new patch came around (maybe a coincidence) and the problems started. Everytime we started the strike Zerberus Vae III on mars me or my buddy got kicked from it. Everytime we got another error code and we stopped google them. When I left the WLAN with my PS4 and started using a network cable the problems were gone. But with the newest hotfix the problems came even harder back to us. We can't farm together, playing the daily mission or weekly strike or something. Not immediately but after some time someone of us will be kicked out of our session and sometimes we can't even join eachother again. And here is the funny part: We can play Destiny without any problem if we aren't in each other groups. No error, no problems, nothing. So I guess, like the title says, the major problem is: Playing in the same group while beeing in the same network. Does anyone of you got a related problem or something? We've got a new router and no problems in other games or in average usage.

  • Been living with the same problem for quite a while. Tonight, my 4 month streak ended. Used to be able to hard wire one and put the other on wireless and it was enough to fix the issue. Iron banner and an update and doesn't work anymore. Wtf.

  • So not sure if this will help you but I went in to my router and completely exposed both my systems to the Internet, I actually just went ahead and exposed the entire network as a test. Was able to log both systems on and play together for several hours. So since that isn't the safest way to have a network run, I am going to test out having one system set up with no port forwarding and putting the other PS3 in to DMZ and opening that up. If that fails I will try to port forward one and DMZ the other. The key it seems is that Bungie's servers don't seem to differentiate between the two systems behind the router, so one of you gets kicked out because it gets conflicting information from the systems for you guys in the same area. It's part of their netcode, which seems to run really well. By allowing Destiny servers to actually see the PS3's on the network they can get the correct information from each system. This is why I think using DMZ for one system will work. Destiny servers will be able to see that system fully open, and the other system will be tucked behind the router ip address. Thus enabling you to play together. Like I said I may need to use port forwarding on the non-DMZ system to make it work even better.
