You have three character slots. Make duplicate ones of your character and raid 6 times a week. 3 on normal, 3 on hard. Do Nightfall 3 times a week. Earn marks for all of them. If you can do all of these things in a week you have way more free time than I do.

So destiny wants you to make 3 of the exact same characters? GG Bungie.

No they don't, it's just a way to maximize the amount of stuff you can do in the game. You complained that you didn't have enough to do and that you wanted all the caps removed. Having three identical characters allow you to quickly bypass the caps basically since it would be hard to max out everything on all three. You can do three different classes but it will take you longer to go from level 20 to 26/27 to be able to do the raid. Most people don't even max out their crucible/vanguard marks as it is and would never have time to max out all three. Here are the trophy details for PSN. As you can see most people don't get this far. Valorous - Earn the maximum weekly Vanguard score. 37.21% Notorious - Earn the maximum weekly Crucible score. 29.09% As for the raid 2 million people have started it and only a quarter of them have finished. Most will probably never even create an alt character.

I get what you're saying, and I have seen this done. But with what time I do spend in Destiny, I can't even imagine having that much free time to try to level up another 2 characters, to then make them work in tandum with each other.

If you make your alternates the same class you just switch all the gear over. They go from level 20 instantly to your highest level. Leveling from 1-20 takes about 1-2 days of playing. I got my alternate to lvl 20 over the last weekend. If you use a different class it will take you a bit longer since you are getting armor for a different class. You can still swap your good weapons back and forth though.
