It makes even more sense if you compare it to legendary weapons. I got a legendary rocket launcher drop during pvp, if I bought it with marks then it would have cost 150 marks and taken over a week to earn provided I had the required rep.
It takes a lot more time and effort to buy your gear.

If you do it like I do it...the. technically yes it takes up to 2 weeks to at least buy one thing that's 120 or 150. Being I dont play much. But in the end. Does it matter? You can't sell the guns or trade them. So in essence buying them helps out future raids or getting your guardian to that level you need to be.

My point was just that it's purely luck if you get a drop, that was the first legendary weapon to ever drop for me outside of the raid and everything else I have bought myself through increasing rep and earning marks.

Tue but I don't think there is a correct way to get anything in the game. All depends on the player. I work to buy the weapons and armor but if it drops on my way there? It just cut the time in half and saves me time I can spend looking for materia

Half of this game is about loot and drops, it's part of the fun. The point of this thread is that people are claiming buying exotics vs getting them in a drop is not earning them when it's actually not that simple and really it can take the average player a fair bit of time to earn their coins.

I'm just tired of seeing it lol. Because I may be wrong but I bet it's mostly kids used to other mmos where there's a certain way to obtain these items but in the end. It's not supposed to be easy or fast for the exotics because that's what they are. Their valuable because their exotic. If everyone in real life has exotic sports cars the street value would deprecate. Everyone including myself needs to relax and enjoy the game not just grind through and speed run for those guns that's the replay value. What happens when your maxed to the brim with everything? You get bored and if you stored run it. Now there's nothing left to do. But either collect for the sake of collecting. Or leave the game till dlc and never really experience everyrhing like the planets the secret areas the beauty of the world.

Unfortunately people love to complain! There are things Bungie could do to make exotics harder to obtain and therefore more 'exotic' but this is how they have decided to run with it. I just enjoy the game and snap up the exotics from Xur if I need them.

Exactly!

Some people use the exploit of having 3 x characters to triple what they earn, but it still takes time and effort, so fair play.

That's the one thing I dislike about coins, they should be similar to marks and non transferable between characters. Would balance the game out a little more.
