I'm glad I saw this because I was just thinking of doing it. How many shards can you pull out of each helm? Is it consistent or random? Thanks in Advance =^{0

2 or 3 each consistantly, cant remember for sure. Something like 2 for legendary, and 3 for exotic I think. Havent done it all that much personally.

I dismantled a legendary chest an got 3 shards an I bought another one to get dismantle an get more but only gave me 2 this time I think it's random it was the same chest both times I bought

Thank you for your descriptive summary. It helps put this into perspective. I have 2 Helms in the Vault I tucked away for the other 2 classes. If I dismantle those & am able to get enough motes before he leaves, I should have enough shards for the final upgrade. >> Anyone else out there happen to dismantle any Exotic Helms? Im curious if you get the same results / ratio.

I blew up a exotic helm and got 2 shards, seems the same as legendary

When you break them down you can get anywhere from 1 - 5 shards our energy. Got 4 twice and when I went for a third time only got 1. It's all random.
